Shadow Shot Sunday – Garden Shadows

Yesterday, Heather and I checked out the Tulsa Audubon Society’s annual garden tour. It featured several residential gardens. It was a cool. The emphasis is not on bermuda grass or standard flowers. There were lots of wildflowers and the grasses were prairie grasses.

In addition to the plantings, the homes had an emphasis on shady areas for people to rest outside. In the summertime in Tulsa, you need great shade.

I love a Chiminea!

One home had a very nice water feature.

It was a great tour. With nominal cost.

And a bonus feature.

I finished this shadowy jigsaw puzzle recently. I though it would be easy but the decking about ate much lunch.

I went on a local garden tour once. I should post pictures (flowers, mostly) from it one of these days. I had never heard of chimneas (which WordPress keeps trying to correct to “chimney”). The water feature has me wanting one. So peaceful.

The water feature is lovely! I have a fire pit, but I rarely use it, and in the summer it’s too hot to. Same with the grill, too hot to go out!

That garden tour looks like it was an absolute dream, especially with that focus on native wildflowers and prairie grasses rather than the usual manicured lawns. You are so right about needing great shade in Tulsa during the summer, and that water feature looks incredibly peaceful. That chiminea is fantastic too—I can just picture sitting out there on a cool evening. Good luck with the puzzle; those repetitive wood deck textures are always deceptively brutal!
