Cardinals are my favorites! I know mouning doves are big feeders–we used to get many at our birdfeeder in brooklyn. I can’t have a birdfeeder here in summer…bears!

When we had bird feeders, the mourning doves didn’t visit the feeders; they preferred to graze underneath getting all the seeds the house finches, cardinals, and others dropped on the ground. Your male house finch is so red! I love Northern cardinals; I miss watching the males bringing their fledglings to our yard and feeding them. Devoted fathers! Alana ramblinwitham
