Sweetie wanted to get some poinsettias for some friends and family members so we headed out to A New Leaf in the Tulsa suburb of Broken Arrow. It is a not for profit organization that provides, among other things, job training services for individuals with disabilities, and they had Poinsettias in all sorts of colors and patterns.
There is no such thing as popping in and out of a greenhouse for Sweetie. She is the gardener’s gardener.
I think she wanted one of each. We finally picked a few out. Is there anything better than flowers for Christmas? (Or any other occasion?)
Did you know, according to TLC
Poinsettia’a are not toxic.
They are originally from Mexico.
They were introduced to the United States by Dr. Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first US ambassador to Mexico.
Poinsettias come in such a wide and varied range of colours now that they’re definitely hard to resist!
Such beautiful poinsettias and I can understand how they’re hard to resist! And, no, there’s nothing lovelier than flowers for any occasion! Thanks for the interesting info about poinsettias! Hope your weekend is going well — it looks as though it is!!

Great photos, Yogi! Sweetie is a wonderful bloom among the Poinsettia. How does one decide? I think I like that multi-colored variety and the red, which is my favorite color. Well, the pink is perfect, too…. PS There is a myth that the poinsettia is poisonous, but I don’t think that is based on fact.
Beautiful shades and patterns!
So many lovely colours! They make prefect Christmas flowers. Hope you chose one to keep for yourselves too.
Great post and photos.
Looks like my kinda place 😉
Lovely choices.
The pink poinsettias look very pretty.
Delightful pictures! We don’t have too many varieties in our part of the world. However the red ones grow really tall and the blooms last till around April. So glad you stopped by my blog.:)
Lovely captures of these red and pink Poinsettias, Yogi.
How gorgeous!
Daisy, have a blessed Sunday.
No, no, no. Thanks.
There’s no doubt they are beautiful flowers but wasn’t there a pub handy for you to hide in?
Beautiful poinsettias! Must be nearing Christmas

Oh how pretty are those. I want some!
The greenhouse is filled with lively colors of Christmas. I never knew they originated from Mexico. Dec. 12th is National Poinsettia Day.
The flowers are nice,is this your greenhouse?
Greetings,
Filip
Sweetie fits in perfectly with all the other lovely flowers. 🙂
Your photos are beautiful. I love this plant and has bought them before but they don’t grow very well in our hot weather.
Those are beautiful. I am going to have to go check this place out!
These are fabulous photos. What great reds. Your wife is lovelier than lovely. Thanks for this.
