(Pardon the blur and the reflections)
The Mayo Hotel is right next door to my office building to the north. A few weeks ago a storm blew through town and made it dark as night in the middle of the day. Their neon light came on it got so dark.
The storm looked mean and wet but blew through without a drop. All I have to show for it is this photograph.
…and what an awesome photo at that?!! I can’t believe all the threat of the dark clouds, and not a drop!! Odd.
I WISH I WAS 18 AGAIN
Hope your day has treated you well so far!!
I’m sure you could use some rain out there. The neon is great advertising against that moody sky.
I would call that a lowering sky.
Bill took a “lowering sky” picture some time back but hadn’t come across the adjective before. I wonder if you know what I mean?
I’m so glad you always seem to carry a camera:-)
Great capture.
The Mayo Hotel was the site of our senior banquet and prom. I’m an Edison Eagle, class of ’65.
Wonderfully moody sky shot!
Now if only you could get that rain to fall out of those clouds!
Neat picture.
Sorry no rain but the photo is great.
Cool capture of the dark and moody sky, we could use some rain here. We seem to keep missing it too. Happy skywatching!
Fantastic shot and an amazing one at that!! Oklahoma and the rest of the country has had such unbelievable weather this year — ours has been just as unusual and the chilliest spring/early summer on record!! You’d think we lived in different parts of the world rather than the same country!! Happy SWF! Hope you have a great weekend! Stay cool — literally!

It looks like a big storm is a coming. Take cover 🙂
Wow, that sky looks menacing. Just from what I can see of the Mayo, it looks like quite a fancy hotel. I wonder can anyone see that neon sign from below.
Very good framing, the dramatic sky is a little scary.
this thumbnail caught my eye instantly. I LOVE the drama here and the edge of the storm cloud just above the horizon. too bad you didn’t get rain, but this must have been a fantastic show. happy SWF Yogi.
it’s scary. i remember the sky looked like this before the tornado hit Fort Worth, TX a few years ago.
Ham, swiss, lettuce and tomato. Hold the Mayo!
Beautiful!! It looks like a poster.
Great photo!! Your office really has some great views!
These photo looks like in a batman movie. Beautiful shot!
SWF
Great shot. Very dramatic. Your office gives you a vantage point for some great photos. I would cry foul but I enjoy them too much. Have a great weekend.
An Apocolypse photo!
Wow, that is a dark sky. Nice capture of the glowing light. I agree with Barb, it does look a little apocolyptic.
Good photo.
Regards!
