Technically, this isn’t a sign, its part of a mural on the old Tulsa downtown YMCA. One day the building will be gone along with the mural. The mural has been there so long that people don’t even see it.
I don’t know when it was put on but it has a definite 1970’s type look about it with all the yellows and oranges.
It hasn’t been there long enough because I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen it before!
Ah, the 70’s. What were they like? Tell me about them, dearest Yogi! 😉
Hate it when stuff like that goes away. Kind of sad. Progress?! Yes, orange shag carpet, olive green kitchen appliances, definetly 70’s. LOL.
I like it and think it truly is a “sign” of the times. Also a good organization.
Here in London there was an illuminated sign put up in the 1950s for an energy drink called Lucozade. It was on one of the main approach roads into London. A few years ago the building was demolished. But after a couple more years, a new building took its place. And they’d saved the sign and now it’s back in its place – but on a different building!
It has certainly held up well!
Nice. I’m sure I’ve probably seen it.
I love old buildings, signs, etc.
The wonderful thing about murals, they don’t get grafiit.
I LOVE it!! I wish some of our old downtown buildings could get some cool murals on them!
I see no reason a mural can’t also be a sign.
Murals are becoming quite common around the country, perhaps the design will be copied on a new building.
It is a great sign and a wonderful mural!
Murals make great signs. It may look dated now, but in another decade or so it will be stylishly retro.
nice one..i hope they will keep this building and keep this mural painting. it makes the building look nice…pls visit MY SIGNS,SIGNS
Great sign and it appears to be in excellent condition.
the colors are still vibrant despite all the years and all the elements.
I love seeing murals on buildings.
I love murals and the way they stick around for generations.
Sorry I’m so late — been one of those days!! I, too, love murals and the way they stick around for such a long time. Catches the history and the feel of the times! Terrific capture! Hope your week is going well!

I recognized the slogan right away, we have the same in Canada 🙂
I love this mural! Thank goodness there are so many of us with cameras ready to record fleeting works of art before they disappear altogether!
I like it! Nice mural and nice motto.
