The Ten Things I Couldn’t Do Without

The RHOK

The Ladies of the Real Housewives of Oklahoma have a little meme going on with the McLinky Monday where you are supposed to list the 10 things you couldn’t do without.

Here is my list.

Number 1 My GPS devices!
I have five of them. Here is my primary Geocaching Device

IMG_4038

The Magellan Explorist GC. I have two backups to it. One is a Garmin the other is a Lowrance. Plus I have a running GPS that tells me how far I run and for how long and a combination navigation and geocaching unit. You really cannot have too many of them.

Number Two are my Running Shoes!! Mizuno Wave Alchemy Rules.

I love to run. I don’t run very fast nor very far nor very often but I love it. These shoes are a nice ride.

#3 is my Satellite Radio

I grew up with so called Classic Rock and liked it fine but I started hating it before hating it was cool. I’ve had satellite radio for almost 6 years and I’ll never be without it ever again. Whatever genre, whenever. I haven’t listened to commercial radio in years.

#4 is my Ipod Touch.

Its not an Iphone but it doesn’t have any monthly fees. I can play Scrabble and Words with Friends just like my sisters at RHOK (but not as good as most of them). I’ve got over 100 apps on it plus its loaded with music. It is wonderful.

#5 is my Ipod Nano

I have about two thousand songs on itunes on my laptop. I rotate them in and out of my ipod. I have run hundreds of miles listening to tunes. Everything from Metallica to the Carpenters, Jazz, Classical, whatever. This thing just keeps on going.

#6 is Coffee

I love good coffee. I can’t drink the swill at work so I have my own Keurig coffee maker. Sweetie has a Tassimo we use at home. Love it, love it, love it. I can’t imagine a world without coffee.

#7 are my Cameras

I have a Canon Powershot sx120. I love it. It’s not too complicated and has a nice zoom. I have a couple other cameras also. I’m still learning about photography and I love it. I marvel at the skill of my fellow bloggers.

#8 is our Electric Blanket

In the winter I like it cool at night for sleeping but I like to stay warm and I don’t like a lot of covers on me. I cannot stand it. So Sweetie indulges me. I love it. Don’t laugh at me, or even with me on this. I’m warning you.

#9 is my Fat Tire

I love malted adult beverages. Fat Tire by New Belgium Brewing of Fort Collins, Colorado is my favorite. Alas, they cannot sell it in Oklahoma. I called the brewery and talked to them a few years about it. The Oklahoma state liquor laws are such that can’t for some reason. So when I go on business to the People’s Republic of Kansas I stock up.

# 10 is Having Every Other Friday Off.

This is my favorite. I work 80 hours over 9 days so I get every other Friday off. I spend them with Sweetie. During the school year we take SuperPizzaBoy to school and roll him out the door. “Duck and Roll, duck and roll” we yell, why can’t he get that straight? Sometimes he gets so banged up. It is his fault. Then we go to breakfast. If the weather is warm we ride our bikes, if not we go to the movies!! Thanks Gas Company.

We have at least three of your top ten items in common. I have a Zune instead of an Ipod Touch, but I keep over eight gigs of music on it. I got a Keruig for Christmas…WooHooo.
I take my own coffee to the office since we’re not allowed to have our own makers. Digital cameras are my passion. I have a DSLR and a Canon SX 30IS. I am trying to find a Canon G11 or G12 cheap, to fill out my line up. There is nothing like an electric blanket to take the chill off the bed when it’s in the single digits outside. I used to work a similar schedule to yours, and I loved it. We got every Friday afternoon off. Now I work a regular 40 hour week, not for much longer. I’m about a year and a half out from punching the clock for the last time. Have a great week.

  2. Tulsa Gentleman

I recently upgraded my gen1 iPhone to a 4G. It is an iTouch with a phone in it. The original gen1 had a camera in it that was so-so. The new one had a surprisingly good camera in it, 5mp. video with sound and aface camera/video so I could Skype with somebody if I knew anybody to Skype with. The camera is surprisingly good. All the pics I took when we had snow on the ground were with the iPhone, I think I got 4 posts out of the set plus my sort of macro of the cards yesterday. Games, email, internet, camera, phone. It comes pretty close to being an all in 1 gadget. There is even a GPS app but it costs 9.99 a month.

    Seriously great list!

I have a GPS in my car and can’t for the life of me figure out how to use the silly thing. And even if I do have a map, I can’t read it. It drives my map man CrAzY!! LOL!

Have you tried Ying-Ling beer? You can’t buy it in Oklahoma either, but it must be something. Brett and my BIL love it. You can’t get it West of the Mississippi. What about Chamay? They love that and can get it here. They like the blue.
    Me? I hate beer. LOL!

I want one of those fancy-schmancy coffee makers. I think I would love it.

And, whatever. You do run – a lot! Maybe I should get me some of those shoes and then maybe they’d make me want to run?

Thanks for linking up today. And, thanks for always playing word games with me. =)

  4. Impulsive Addict

Yay for you linking up with us! Will I get to meet you and Sweetie on Friday?

Ok…my car has a built-in GPS. I don’t know where I’d be without it. Literally.

Love #2..the product and the action.

I have Sirius in my car. The hubs wanted it first several years ago so I got it for him for Christmas. I vowed that I would NEVER pay for a radio in MY car. Then we started traveling a lot and changing the station 5000 times wasn’t fun. I’ve had it now for about three years and I can’t do without it.

Totally with you on #4 and #5 but number 6 is disgusting. Sorry. BLECK.

    #7 is awesome.

    I’ve never had a #8 but I’m always cold. I should invest.

Never tried #9 but I’m always willing to try it once. My cousin is married to a wine broker in Tulsa. Yes, this state has to have a wine broker. Only us and one other state have/need them. Isn’t that silly?

Yay for every other Friday off work! Unless I’m outta town, I’m on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  5. JessieMomma

Every other Friday off… That is a super fantastical Must Have list item!!!

I agree with the lots of music, lots of apps! They are great time managers/time wasters! Couldn’t live without mine either!

    Visiting via the RHOK linky.

  6. Sharon's Mum Anne

Having had a humdinger of a “chest infection” this past two weeks my top ten would be: tissues, medication, hot radiators, copious cups of tea, warm bed, ipad to play games on, Kindle to read, ready prepared salads (my food of choice lately), tv and finally family and friends to do those things I couldn’t.

  7. Oklahoma Granny

Years ago we had an electric blanket and I LOVED it. Until one night my husband and I both woke up to the smell of something burning. Our blanket was smoldering! YIKES! We immediately unplugged it and yanked it off the bed. No more electric blankets for us. Hopefully they’ve improved them since then.

BTW – did I possibly see SPB and his classmates on tv last night during a news story about the school funding law?
