Church Camp 2011 – Saying Goodbye

Well Church Camp came to an end yesterday. I wanted to say goodbye to all my new and old friends but I guess that they were still passed out contemplating everything they had learned at Church Camp this year. So I just packed up my stuff and left. First though I had to pick up some souvenirs of this year’s Church Camp. So I went to my favorite souvenir shop.

Fat Tire 2

A sight like this almost makes me want to cry. Look at all the Fat Tire beer and other New Belgium Brewing Company products. I love the stuff and we can’t get it in Oklahoma.

I called the brewery once and asked what the deal was. They said that they require their wholesalers to keep the beer refrigerated and under Oklahoma State law you cannot put conditions like that on wholesalers. Also, you can’t just pick a wholesaler to sell your stuff exclusively. If you offer your products to one, you have to offer your products to all wholesalers. So, since they are very concerned about the quality of their product they just don’t sell it in Oklahoma.

I don’t know about you but I am so proud of our Oklahoma legislators and regulators. They are working hard for our Oklahoma liquor wholesalers. The liquor wholesalers and retailers in Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and New Mexico and bootleggers everywhere stand in solidarity of their position.

Enough of that, how about a recap of Church Camp 2011. How about a Wordle? It’s hard to read so click on it to enlarge.

Wordle: Church Camp 2011

I love Texas but it was nice to get home to Oklahoma. I stopped at the “Welcome Center” to use the facilities.

It is always nice to be back.

Interesting “wordle”. Kind of funny about the beer problem but looks like you solved it for a little while. Yet isn’t that beer getting warm in your trunk?

I woke up way too early today, but you got me laughing immediately so all is well. Drink a Fat Tire for me — after you get home! Have a safe trip and enjoy the rest of your week!

For years, Oklahoma would not build decent rest stops on our turnpikes primarily because of the “pervs” who might infect them. So they finally built some and there you are taking pictures in them. Knowing that you are a good Christian family man, on your way home from church camp even, I wouldn’t want to imply anything, I’m just saying….

Liquor laws are so complex in North America, they depend on the state/province and are sometimes very strange. It’s much more straightforward in France!

Been perusing your church camp posts and pictures, and I have to say. Your church camp is very different than the church camp I remember from my youth. 🙂 Enjoy your Fat Tire!

Would like to try a bottle or two that that beer. But I was wondering if the the staff person picked up their staff? I don’t have enough faith to do it with it’s head still on.

I think you probably have enough to last for awhile anyway. Glad you were able to stock up and I’m sure Sweetie is glad too!

I’d have to wonder about anyone taking a picture of themselves in the bathroom mirror in a highway rest stop! And I have NEVER seen a church camp with so much alcohol! What denomination are you anyway? Definitely NOT Baptist! LOL!

How long will your liquid refreshment last – and is it just for you or do you share it with Sweetie, although I’m guessing she’s a wine buff.

I’m surprised the store didn’t check to make sure you would keep the beer refrigerated…
Hope none of your fellow church camp attendees followed you to the liquor store. Wouldn’t want to sully your reputation!
Our Utah legislators make sure our beer is low octane, and they probably discourage refrigeration as well.

Is that the Men’s Bathroom, Yogi? I’m keeping my eyes closed – well – I’m squinting a little but trying not to see too much! You probably needed to stop there because of all the beer…

I’ve been enjoying the Fat Tire you left in our frig! I think you made a great souvenir choice. That’s quite the church camp you’ve been to. I especially enjoyed the Ikea tour. We have one opening in Denver in a little over a month.

These comments are cracking me up! Some people are so rude. I love the perv pic in the bathroom mirror. I can’t wait to eat Sonic and anniversary cake in there in 3 more years! Enjoy the 6 point beer! Texas has the BEST!

The beer laws sound very peculiar to me especially since they let you put the beer in your warm trunk. They really ought to have checked how you were going to transport it! Oh but you packed your trunk with bags of ice in all the nooks and crannies, right?
