Skywatch Friday – Views From Above & Below

We are still having nice skies along with a lot cooler weather. Yesterday morning I walked outside to get the paper and was greeted with a great sky. (And yes, I did use a filter, I hope you don’t mind).

I’m still flying my drone, mainly in periscope mode. The above video is an example. I just take it straight up and the gps in the drone holds its position. I couldn’t take it too far up because of windy conditions in this video.

Earlier, I got it higher and took some pics of the neighborhood and sky. I used a filter on these because otherwise the items on the ground were black.

Another view looking soutwest showing the local elementary school.

And straight west, one can see clouds starting to pile up.

And straight north across the greenspace.

Strawberry Moon

And we had a Full Moon the other day. Since it is August, they call it the Sturgeon Moon. I love full moons, what about you.

Prior to the Trump Rally in Tulsa way back in June some local community members went out and painted this mural on Greenwood Avenue. Now the local community and the city are trying to figure out what to do with it. Many people would like to keep it but the problem is of course what keeps other groups from painting streets with their own messages. I’m hoping that they can keep it somehow.

I’m linking with Skywatch Friday

Wow, I love the first sky capture! A wonderful start to your day!

Pretty skies and drone captures. Love the moon shot! Thanks for hosting.
    Take care! Enjoy your day!

I enjoyed all your pictures with the filters. The first one especially had a kind of old-timey postcard (postcards from the 1940’s era) feel. Someone I went to high school and college collects those postcards. Love those drone sunsets. So far, not tempted to buy a drone but one never knows what the future will bring.

It looks like a big fire is raging behind the houses in the first picture. Nice to be able to use the drone to see the surrounding area from above. Oh yes, I love full moon.

Never thought of that but I suppose what is good for the goose it good for the gander in some minds. Your sky and drone shots are beautiful and otherworldly. The moon shot is SO close!

Wonderful sky … the filters enhance without detracting. I sure wished I had a drone t get a picture of Eugene’s BLM Street mural …. and I can’t believe nobody seems to ave brought up the caveat you mention. I haven’t heard of anyone wanting it gone (although I’m sure there are some) nor of anyone wanting to paint anything else on any street. (Psst, don’t tell them about Tulsa). ….. However, I do wish somebody would tell our City Fathers and Mothers about Tulsa’s Gathering Place. There is a lot of river frontage downtown here that is wasted (not the trails where I walk which are great as is, but closer t the city center).
