Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Upside Down from Behind in the Sunshine Edition

have been traveling and not participating in Ashley Sisk’s  Scavenger Hunt Sunday one of my most favorite meme’s but I’m back so without further ado lets get down to the Hunt!!

1. Eyes

Elephant Eyes

I try and learn things from other people, especially people who are smarter than me, like my sister Ellen. She took a photography class and one of the things she learned is that it is important to capture an animals eyes. This is an elephant in the San Diego Zoo. I found its eyes and the eyes of almost all elephants I’ve seen (and they have all been in captivity) to be sad.

I captured this lion at the Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls, Idaho last weekend. He looks pretty healthy. He has kind of a vacant stare. I’m glad that though that he wasn’t looking at me. That would be pretty scary.

2. Upside Down

Blue Whale Pond

I have a whole bunch of different type film cameras including an old funky Minolta that uses 110 film cartridges. I sent the film off to Cal-I-Forn-I-A (as we say in Oklahoma) for processing and they sent back a disk with the images. It took me a while to figure out what happened. Turns out that I liked they way they turned out.

3. From Behind

R1-03687-012A

I run in several races every year. I take my camera with me and try and capture some of the experience. My favorite race is the Tulsa Run 15K. I was running along at the start of the race and came up upon this woman with a strange sign on her back.

So I got up along side her and talked with her a little bit and sure enough she was pregnant and the day of the race was her due date! I thought that was something awesome. Running a nine mile race on your due date! Of course, me being me, thought that this is one person that I could beat in the race. I’m so ashamed of thinking such base thoughts, but I do.

4. Sunshine

Hey, Okay, how about some KC and the Sunshine Band? Is that good enough sunshine for you?

Oh do a little dance, make a little love
Get down tonight, get down tonight
Do a little dance, make a little love
Get down tonight, get down tonight, baby

(I am really glad that the 70’s are over!! You can have them. Give me Five Finger Death Punch any day, is what I say.

Here is KC, all cool and slick and separated from his fans by a big wide table. Heather wasn’t going to let that stop her though.

The band members were pretty cool though.

5. Cup

Nordaggio's Coffee

Double Tall Latte for me please!! I love designs like this.

That’s it for this week folks. Come back soon!

Oh those eyes of the elephant – no wonder they’re most peoples’ favourite animal. Somehow, no matter haw sad the eyes, I cannot take such a shine to the lion. How brave (or foolish) of the lady running nine miles on her “due date” – you don’t say whether you managed to beat her or not???? Love the lake scene – you’re so good with those sort of shots. Finally, I didn’t know KC and the Sunshine Band were still going – they don’t look quite as old as expected.
As always, my favourite of the week..

Well, I didn’t come here for the post title but I LOVE it. You always do such a nice job with your Scavenger Hunt picks. I really ought to check out next week’s challenge and perhaps join in again.

  3. a spirit of simplicity

i like the way your old image came out as well. KC will be in our town pretty soon as well but we will not be seeing him as he is not one of our favorites. We did go see the band Yes a few weeks back and loved it. They put on a great show.

Wow what great scavenger hunt pictures, Love the lions (I am a sucker for big cats) but I really like your uside down reflection, so pretty x

Great stuff, and no doubt about it! Now I know that KC and the Sunshine Band are still alive.

I am impressed by the pregnant lady. There’s a reason she was in such good shape on her due date!

And the 110 film brings back memories. I remember our 110 camera–an upgrade (slim and stylish) from our 126!
