I’m going through a blogger experience right now. My apologies. Things will be better soon.

Western Oklahoma Road Trip

(Drilling rig drilling a horizontal well into the Cana Woodford Shale formation.)
I had a meeting in western Oklahoma on Wednesday. I love driving out there. The sky just opens up and expands and so does my outlook on life.

(Cryogenic Natural Gas Processing Plant under construction.) (sorry about the splotch)
It was a nice dry, not too hot day. Just beautiful.
There were reminders though of why so many people have storm shelters. This area saw a tornado come through just a few weeks ago.
There was lots of damage to houses and buildings and several people perished.
The dry weather is nice, but can lead to grass fires.
I have always thought of western Oklahoma as the beauty and the beast kind of thing. It is beautiful but it can bite hard.

Oklahoma City Memorial
I was in Oklahoma City Thursday meeting customers, and then later revisiting the Oklahoma City Memorial. It is one of the most beautiful and sad places in Oklahoma.
Isaiah 12:2
“Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid.
The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.”

My World -Botanica – Wichita, Kansas
Sweetie and I went to Wichita, Kansas for an autism conference a couple weeks ago. After the conference we sneaked to “Botanica, The Wichita Gardens” botanical garden which may be Wichita’s best kept secret.
We enjoyed our couple of hours there. The grounds are meticulously maintained and and there are surprises around every corner.
There are many fountains, and lots of shade with places to rest.
In addition to the more formal paved walks Botanica has trails winding through more wild areas. I can’t resist a trail through the woods.
with sunlight coming through the leaves.
I love nice sculptures in a garden. This was my favorite at Botanica.
My certified Master Gardener wife was on overload.

Camera Critters – Pawnee Praire Park
I was in Wichita, Kansas last week and took some time to go geocaching in Wichita’s beautiful Pawnee Praire Park just west of the airport. I was worried that the park’s chiggers might be getting hungry.
I came across a couple of white tail deer. You can see the first looking at the camera. His buddy is behind him facing the other way, mooning me I guess.
I come across lots of deer while geocaching or trailrunning and I hardly ever get a picture of them because they don’t stick around long enough for me to get my camera out and ready.
Skywatch Friday – Bike Ride
Sweetie and I went bike riding last week after work.
I just love the light on the tree trunks.
Fuzzy downtown Tulsa
A few miles to go, the sun is going down.
Changes in the sky – it took only a few minutes
Please click over to Skywatch Friday to see more views of our sky from all over the world.

My World – Scenes from Austin
I went on a trip to Austin, Texas a couple weeks ago.
There was still snow in Tulsa and they were spraying the planes with what looked like pepto-bismol.
They had the plows going also
Dang it, this is Tulsa, OK at the end of March, not Fairbanks in January, anyway, we got the word,
Big Bird, you are cleared for takeoff.
I got to Austin and the Texas skies were blue and the temperature was warm
See the flag. Texans are very particular about the flag. Years ago I worked at a natural gas processing plant in Texas right on a major highway. If the college kids we hired put the flag up upside down, people would be pulling off the highway left and right to make sure we took it down and put it up right. You see its a five pointed star and your always have two of the points pointed down. God help you if you mess it up.
The SXSW Music Festival was winding down and the Sixth Street area was busy (sorry for the blurry photo)
I saw this leg lamp in a store window. Too bad it was closed, I know my wife would want one of these. Maybe if I ever go back. Can you carry a leg lamp on a plane, or do you have to check it?
I got homesick thinking of my wife, Sweetie, and how much she would love that lamp. Then I got even more homesick when I came across this shuffleboard parlor.
Playing shuffleboard, that is our deal. Too bad she wasn’t here with me.
A former residence of the writer O. Henry was right across the street from my hotel. He was an awesome short story writer and I love short stories.
I got a pretty good tour of east Austin while geocaching during a three hour lunch break one day. Its a real interesting area. Big time gentrification going on so you have a mix of the old and the new.
I absolutely loved the murals in the neighborhood.
Interesting Idea for a Neighborhood Watering Hole
I loved this house for some reason.
I loved this place also.
Right down the street this modern building.
Now, I love this but its like, is the offset of the second floor for a reason? Or just because it looks cool. I’m ok with it either way, I just want to know what the deal is.
