Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Nappy Time Edition

It’s time for Ashley Sisk’s Scavenger Hunt Sunday.  So without further ado, lets get to it.

1. Two Things

The Great Spirit

Well, a double exposure is two things right? I always allow myself plenty of leeway on these posts. This is one of my favorite creations. It is a statue of the great spirit, then double exposed against a tree.

2. Animal

IMG_7768

Son Logan has horseback riding lessons almost every Saturday morning. I love watching the lessons.

3. Handwriting

Handwriting

Now, you all (as we say in Oklahoma) got to promise to keep this on the QT, deal? Okay, my real job is that I lead a group of people (Gas Supply Reps) in an effort to get natural gas producers in Oklahoma to connect their wells to my employers pipeline system. This is an application that I got one year when I had an opening. I’m sure that I’m violating all sorts of policies and procedures. So don’t tell anybody okay. No, I didn’t make this up. As my wife and all my coworkers and former teachers can attest, my handwriting is unreadable. It would probably make a great code in case we go to war again. The only problem is that nobody can break the code.

As far as whether the qualifications listed are still accurate, all I can say is that the last woman I chased I married about 24 years and eleven months ago and I last played golf about five years ago or so.

4. Frozen/li>

IMG_2981

I hate being cold but I was warm when I took this picture of frozen Mount Rainier in Washington a few years ago.

5. Naptime

#synchronized #napping Abby the fat dog and Christmas the fat cat

This is our fat dog, Abby, and our fat cat Chrissy doing some synchronized napping. Unfortunately, Chrissy is no longer with us and I still miss her.

Well that’s about it for this week’s edition.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Upside Down from Behind in the Sunshine Edition

have been traveling and not participating in Ashley Sisk’s  Scavenger Hunt Sunday one of my most favorite meme’s but I’m back so without further ado lets get down to the Hunt!!

1. Eyes

Elephant Eyes

I try and learn things from other people, especially people who are smarter than me, like my sister Ellen. She took a photography class and one of the things she learned is that it is important to capture an animals eyes. This is an elephant in the San Diego Zoo. I found its eyes and the eyes of almost all elephants I’ve seen (and they have all been in captivity) to be sad.

IMG_9299

I captured this lion at the Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls, Idaho last weekend. He looks pretty healthy. He has kind of a vacant stare. I’m glad that though that he wasn’t looking at me. That would be pretty scary.

2. Upside Down

Blue Whale Pond

I have a whole bunch of different type film cameras including an old funky Minolta that uses 110 film cartridges. I sent the film off to Cal-I-Forn-I-A (as we say in Oklahoma) for processing and they sent back a disk with the images. It took me a while to figure out what happened. Turns out that I liked they way they turned out.

3. From Behind

R1-03687-012A

I run in several races every year. I take my camera with me and try and capture some of the experience. My favorite race is the Tulsa Run 15K. I was running along at the start of the race and came up upon this woman with a strange sign on her back.

R1-03687-011A

So I got up along side her and talked with her a little bit and sure enough she was pregnant and the day of the race was her due date! I thought that was something awesome. Running a nine mile race on your due date! Of course, me being me, thought that this is one person that I could beat in the race. I’m so ashamed of thinking such base thoughts, but I do.

4. Sunshine

IMG_7100

Hey, Okay, how about some KC and the Sunshine Band? Is that good enough sunshine for you?

Oh do a little dance, make a little love
Get down tonight, get down tonight
Do a little dance, make a little love
Get down tonight, get down tonight, baby

(I am really glad that the 70’s are over!! You can have them. Give me Five Finger Death Punch any day, is what I say.

IMG_7107

Here is KC, all cool and slick and separated from his fans by a big wide table. Heather wasn’t going to let that stop her though.

IMG_7109

The band members were pretty cool though.

5. Cup

Nordaggio's Coffee

Double Tall Latte for me please!! I love designs like this.

That’s it for this week folks. Come back soon!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Outside Edition

1. Sunglasses

IMG_5622

These sunglasses belong to Irv, the wolrd’s great BIL. He puts up with a lot from his BIL is what I think.

2. Summer

IMG_9030

We just got back from vacation on the Gulf Coast. We all got sand between our toes.

3. Outside

#tinyplanet the #beach is my world #sand #sky #clouds #water #gulfofmexico #gulfshores #orangebeach #alabama #vacation

This is a “Tiny Planet” view of the beach. Tiny Planet takes a photograph and kind of folds it in on itself. There are various websites and phone apps that can do it.

4. Green

DSCN2021

I saw this dude on Turkey Mountain a couple weeks ago. I could almost outrun him. I got winded and had to stop and rest or I would have kept up with him better.

5. Healing

DSCN1996

Running the trails of Turkey Mountain is my Happy and Healing Place.

What about you? Where is your Happy Place?

Denim

IMG_3053

Logan is sporting some denim shorts in a picture a couple years old. Sorry, that’s cheating I know, but I cheat a lot.

Light

#light #shadows #stucco #tulsa #oklahoma #igersok going to see the dentist this morning and it is my first of two Saturdays this week

This is my dentist office during an early morning appointment. I love the the shadows and the light.

Watch

Watches

The watch on the right is my everyday watch. I love it. The watch on the left is my running watch. He has a GPS and also links to my heart rate monitor. I can go on a run and then upload all the data and have positive proof how slow I am when I’m actually running and how many walking breaks I take and all that other data. Below is the data from an actual run. You can hit the little triangle inside the green balloon and you’ll get taken to another web site where all sorts of statistics are shown.

Why do I need all that?  I don’t silly, why would anybody NEED any such thing. I want it is the thing.

Perspective

Rain rolling into Orange Beach, Alabama

The beach at Gulf Shores, Alabama – aka the Redneck Riviera – We are headed there again later this month. The perspective drives the attention off to the left.

Fuel

Is the #price of #gasoline high enough for you?

Hey, I’m in the energy business but I thought this sign was funny.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Fill in the Blanks Edition

Make Mine a _____________

I was in a trail race, I wasn’t exactly winning, but the course was still open, and one of these guys asked “Hey, You want a beer.” and I said “How many other stupid questions do you have?”

Quirky

I saw these legs one day at lunch here in Tulsa. That seems kind of quirky to me. How her top didn’t fall down around her armpits is the real question.

Morning Ritual

Talk about stupid questions. No offense.

What Were They Thinking

Hey I’m a geocacher. I suffer for my art.

What’s In Your ________________?

Well you know how some bathrooms have big ole soft plushy towels, soaps, candles, lotions, creams and all sorts of pretty stuff.

Well we have all that plus something extra.

Yep, we got a weather station. Just try and top that. And it is wireless. Do you doubt now that my wife loves me?

This is what it is wirelessly connected to in our back yard. And it is all solar powered. It’s time for an upgrade though. The new ones can connect to your wifi network and can be embedded on one’s blog. Oh boy! Father’s day is coming up.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Turkey Mountain Automated Pancake Edition

Where I Stand

R1-08992-0001

That is where I was standing Saturday morning. I took son up on Turkey Mountain. We took the blue trail, a short 1.5 mile loop.

Pink

IMG_6722

Pink is the color of the free bikes available on the River Parks in Tulsa.

Technology

IMG_3319

4H is an awesome organization. They are even tackling our country’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)  manpower (and womanpower!) shortage.

Something New

Automatic pancake machine at Holiday Inn. It is radical technology like this that keeps America strong.

An automated pancake grill. Keeping America Strong!

Favorite Place

R1-08992-0015

My favorite place, besides the beach which is a long way from where I live so it doesn’t really count, is Turkey Mountain in Tulsa. An urban wilderness.

Animals

IMG_8625

For animals this is a shot of Logan riding Cisco at All-Star Therapy north of Tulsa. Logan has a form of autism called Asperger’s Syndrome. Horseback riding helps him with a number of issues. The people at All-Star are wonderful

In the Shade

Bench - Demonstration Garden sepia

The Linnaeus Demonstration Gardens at Woodward Park has a number of nice shady seating areas. Sepia seemed just right for this pic.

From Behind

#snapseed #houston #houstonhobbyairport #headedhome hopefully #airports

Believe it or not, those of who think that I am on the pervy side. I have almost 38,000 photographs on Flickr and not one tagged “Behind.” So I had to go looking. This is from a trip last week to Houston. I was at the airport and took a pic of the sky while nobody was looking. And hey, I thought this was a family friendly meme anyway; where we going with these prompts Ashley?

On the Ground

2014-05-17 Wagon HDR

Well, yeah, it is on the ground isn’t it? Of course almost anything is on the ground one way or another. Hey, I didn’t make the prompt. I’ve been experimenting around with HDR processing since I learned that my point and shoot has bracketing available on the “P” setting. Fun, fun, fun.

Bugs or Blossoms

Smiling #vw #bug

Well, I apologize because I have posted this pic before and I’ll probably post it again. I think it is a pretty good bug picture myself.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Small Good Shapes Edition

On My Feet

IMG_4285

I have two entries today. Above is my coworker’s feet. He had a little mishap at home. Ouch is what I say. He is fully recovered by now I’ll report.

National #cowboyboots for #noncowboys day #bootsondesk #fromwhereisit #boots
Speaking of work, these are what I wear during “National Cowboy Boots for non-Cowboys”  day which happens every other Friday in case you were wondering. I live in Oklahoma and Boots and Guns are mandatory for every citizen. I haven’t got a gun yet but I do have the boots. If they kick me out for not having a gun will you take me in?

Shapes

Triangle - cool art and drafting supply store #downtowntulsa is not going to make it to a 100 #igersok

Hey a Triangle is a shape right?

IMG_3202
Les Pommes by Pablo Picasso – Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa

If you don’t like my Triangle how about my Picasso. Lots of shapes and colors here. You don’t think it is mine. Sure it is. I’ll sell it to you for $100 if you like. Pay me the money and then you will have to the Philbrook Museum to pick it up. Just walk up and take if off the wall. Tell’em Yogi sold it to you. They’ll help you out. No refunds!!

Little Things

IMG_2885

How about a ladybug on a flower. I know that is one thing, not “Things.” Remember No Refunds!

Good

#smoked # chicken 5 hours in the smoker. Pretty darn good even if I say so myself #july4

Smoked chicken quarters, that is what is good. I’ll sell you my Picasso but I’m keeping the chicken. Sorry.

Egg

IMG_0044

Easter Eggs what else. Oh the prompt says “Egg” not “Eggs” you say. Okay just focus on the one you like best and ignore the rest. You can tell I negotiate for a living can’t you. I’m not any good at it but that is what I do.

Thanks for hanging with me on this week’s edition.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – True Confessional Retro Bubbly Blurry Jinxed Edition

Well this week I had to reach deep into my archives for the pics. I know that violates the spirit of the meme, but there it is!

Bubbles

20090325_16

Our son loves luxury. He has stayed at nice hotels and has definite opinions on them. His favorite is the Four Seasons at Las Colinas near Dallas by the way. Oh where did we go wrong. Here he has taken over the tub in our house.

Jump

20100607_12

Not only is son a bon vivant he is a great swimmer, a regular fish. His favorite place to swim is in his grandmother’s pool

Pajamas

PICT0222

And here he is in his Christmas jammies years ago. I didn’t have any current pajama pics of him or anybody else for that matter.

Blur

Tumbling

Son took some tumbling lessons several years ago. They really made him stronger and a little more agile.

Chalk

IMG_1525b

I love chalk art and I love watching people looking at chalk art. So here is a combination. It has a kind of street photography vibe to it.

IMG_1517a

I’m throwing in another chalk entry in honor of the Oklahoma Thunder. Our NBA team that has lost two straight games to Memphis. I rarely watch them and when I do they lose. Seven straight games that I have watched them and they have lost including the last two playoff games. I’m going to keep on watching them and I hope the Jinx breaks.

Neglected

IMG_0961

I found the remains of several rides from a carnival in a vacant lot in a residential area just south of downtown Tulsa. I have no idea what the story is but I doubt they will ever work again.

Signs of Spring

Redbuds

I love tulips and daffodils but to me Spring is when the redbuds bloom.

Last Thing You Bought

Untitled

The world’s greatest MIL, Nana, gave me a smoker for my birthday. Of course, I got to go pick it out, bring it home and put it together. I got to do that twice this year. The first smoker I brought home from Lowe’s was all whopperjawed ( That’s a technical term that us engineers use, especially us Okie engineers.) So I pissanted it back to Lowe’s (another engineering term). Exchanged it for another one and pissanted it back home and put it together. Then I took the propane tank that I bought from Lowe’s and find out that the valve stem was twisted off, so back to Lowe’s and they gave me another tank. So I test fired it and burned off all the metal finishing chemicals (they stink big time.) I tell you what about Lowe’s they may sell crappy merchandise, but they cheerfully exchange the shoddy stuff for good stuff with no hassle.

So now we are discussing what should I smoke for Easter next weekend.

IMG_6182

Well, my suggestion wasn’t well received so I guess we’ll do chicken quarters. I love chicken quarters but you know, something else would have been good also. And seriously, I like Lowe’s.

Shadow

DSCN1478

At Son’s last Improv performance there were a couple segments with shadow puppets. I love shadow puppets.

Four Things

IMG_8055

I used this photograph recently but hey, I’m in dire need of a Four Things photo so here it is. We had a family and friends celebration last weekend in western Oklahoma where we celebrated three birthdays and a military promotion. So we had three cakes and a pie. Of course, I’m special since I get 59 days of birthday this year.
