The Drama Club’s Performance of Crazytown

Logan’s school’s Drama Club had their play on Wednesday, Jonathan Rand’s Crazytown. Crazytown is about a city where everything is just plain wrong, and backwards, and doesn’t make sense. Logan was in a couple of segments including the one below where he plays a sportscaster. I listened to him and his mother practice the lines for weeks and it was great to actually see what was going on.

His mother and I are of course very proud of him. He has worked hard at his craft and is much improved in how he moves on stage, using his voice, and realizing that he can fuss and fidget while performing.

He is switching schools to a much larger private school in the Fall and we hope that he’ll be able to perform in something there.

Logan and the rest of the drama club did very well and the play was well received. They had been practicing for sometime once a week after school and it was great to see it pay off.

Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat – Logan’s Recital

Our son Logan has been taking voice lessons at a private music school since last summer. The school had their Winter Recital Saturday so Logan got a chance to show his chops in the singing business.

The program went from youngest to oldest. The younger ones were really young but they got through their pieces be it the guitar, or piano or a song and we, who didn’t know each other at all, were happy for the kids and their nervous parents and grandparents. As you would expect as the kids got older they displayed more polish and skill and a few had that “presence” up on the stage that hints at real promise. Remarkably there were only three boys in the entire program.

Logan came on toward the end and sang “Sit Down You Are Rocking the Boat” from the Musical “Guys and Dolls.” In my humble opinion (“IMHO” as the political facebookers say) Logan sang it very well. He had a microphone but he was one of the few kids who didn’t need one. He remembered his lines and sang his way through the piece with feeling and vigor and sat down. His Grandmother, (and world’s best MIL) Nana, has taught him to “sell” it whenever he performs. Heather and I are very proud of Logan. He loves singing and performing and it makes him feel good about himself and that is enough for us right now.

Break a Leg Kid!

Son SuperPizzaBoy just finished up his two week summer camp at Clark Youth Theater here in Tulsa. The camp capped off the two weeks with three performances last week to show the parents what their kids have been doing.

There was singing, dancing, skits, and improv comedy. The kids really went all out to show their stuff. We could tell that the instructors and leaders had really prepared the kids well to show their stuff.

Of course, in a show of stars, SuperPizzaBoy was our star. He loves the stage and we love how his face brightens up when he performs.

This was his second year at the camp plus he participates in the Clark Theater Youth Improv workshops every weekend in the Fall and Spring.

Anyway, Kudos to the staff of Clark Theater, the kids who participated and to the parents who support their  kids.
