Skywatch Friday – The Beginning of Snake Season

Pavillion on Turkey Mountain Topaz Restyle

This is the sky on Tulsa’s Turkey Mountain late one afternoon last week. We have had so many beautiful blue skies so much lately it was nice to see some clouds. Clouds mean rain and rain is generally good. I saw my first snake of the season literally about 10 seconds after I took this photo. He was a little tiny guy so I wasn’t too worried about him. After the weather warmed up a few weeks ago some of my trail running friends posted photos of the first copperheads of the season. I’ve seen lots of snakes on the mountain but never a copperhead. I intend to keep it that way.

I’m linking with Skywatch Friday today.

Nice skywatch image. We’ve had more than our share of cloudless skies as well. It seems that I have heard of more copperhead sightings in our area this spring than ever before. I’m not a huge fan of snakes and certainly not venomous ones. Stay safe on the trails.

Copperhead? That would make me go faster. I’ve seen three dead snakes on the road in the last week. Snake season freaks me out!

Yes, watch where you put your feet! We don’t have snakes at high altitude. However, when I was in CA, walking at a salt marsh, a big King Snake slithered almost over my feet to cross the trail. It gave me a start – and a good photo!

Hello, I have seen some snakes too. Brown water snakes sunning themselves. Your sky shot is pretty, love the view of the clouds. Happy Thursday, enjoy your weekend ahead!

Beautiful sky!! We saw a juvenile California King Snake on our hike at the sand dunes. I didn’t mention it on my post because I didn’t get a pic. They are great snakes to have around because the adults will eat rattlesnakes.

Over here, we have our share of rain clouds and some beautiful sky views. No, no to snakes of any kind! I am terrified of snakes. Do watch your steps.

I hate snakes …. of ANY kind!! I’ve seen rattlesnakes and water moccasins plus numerous non-venom snakes along my walks but would rather not.

    That sky photo is pretty.

Oh, I don’t like copperheads at all! Almost stepped on a nest of them when I was a child. My mother said “Back up slowly” so I did.

The scene looks way too pretty for snakes!
We see rattlesnakes, usually small, in the foothills around here. They get away pretty fast if they can.
