Skywatch Friday – Baseball Sky

Recently Added-436

One of my favorite things to do is watch baseball games. I don’t give a flip about them on television but I love watching live baseball, everything from little kids playing tball on up to the major leagues. I love it all. Here in Tulsa we have a AA Professional Baseball Team, The Drillers, in honor of Tulsa’s legacy as “Oil Capital of the World.” AA is two levels below the major leagues but the players and the games are still excellent. A lot of the guys we see playing will be in the major leagues in a few years. The Drillers play in a beautiful downtown ballpark, ONEOK Field and the way it is situated, one can see some great skies.

The triple A affliliate of the San Francisco Giants play in Sacramento and not too far from us either, but we haven’t gone to the games just yet.

beautiful sky indeed. is there any violence on your baseball fields (well, rather in tribunes and around fields) like here in Europe with its football hooligans?

We have a AA Mets team here in Binghamton called the Rumble Ponies. I haven’t been to a game in two years now, but maybe one day. I agree, watching baseball in person is quite different from on the TV (I can actually say that about golf, too.)

The Drillers are playing the NWA Naturals tonight here at Arvest ballpark. I have to admit I do like watching the Rangers or the Royals play, even on TV. Many of the AA players jump straight to the big show. Since the Naturals are a Royals AA farm club, I do get to see a few of the guys play in the big leagues. It’s no secret where my blog name (DrillerAA) came from. Back in the day, the Drillers were a Rangers farm club. When I was growing up in Tulsa, the Oilers were a St. Louis Cardinal farm club. My wife and I both love spending an evening at the ballpark. Have a blessed week-end.
