Our World – Birds on the Back Fence

My wife Heather has been taking advantage of the this isolation to revamp our back yard and add bird feeders and such. So we are getting a lot more birds than we used to. Plus we have more time to sit out and watch them.

So its kind of fun. We have lots of squirrels also helping themselves to the feeders. I don’t care as long as they stay out of the attic.

So I am consulting inaturalist on some of the critters. I don’t have the patience to be a birder but I’ll do it opportunistically.

On a different note, we spent some time with Heather’s Mom yesterday celebrating Mothers Day. A good time was had by all. We got food from a local restaurant and so nobody had to cook!!

And I got a little drone time in as the clouds come rolling in. Check in later this week on my Skywatch Friday post for the images I captured.

I am linking up with Our World Tuesday

I love birds and couldn’t have a bird feeder for the last 20 years. We lived out in the country and there was a small owl in one of our trees when we moved there. It soon became a huge owl. I was afraid it would grab a bird while it was eating. I can have one now since we live in town, so I ordered one on Amazon and it should be here in a few days.

Happy Belated Mother’s Day to Heather & her Mom!

Feed them and they will come Yogi! The birds that is. Nice that you had you mom in law over for Mother’s Day. My daughter and her family came over, and we ordered pizza.

I love watching birds and other animals but I seldom have time to go out and spot them for photo opportunities. When I was at the community plot the other day and I was just leaving, 2 big fat birds came to eat and it was lovely to see them. I mostly see seagulls from my balcony. Glad you were able to enjoy Mother’s Day with your wife and MIL. They look happy.

I just cleaned up my hummingbird feeder, filled it with a batch of sugar water, and put it on the deck. It didn’t take long for the birds to find it. It’s been fun watching them zoom around. This morning a woodpecker made a racket in the area behind my house but flew away as soon as I got a good look at him. Like you, I don’t have the patience to be a real birder, but it’s fun just to wait and see what shows up.

I’m curious about the drone, do you have limits there on where you can fly them? Here we aren’t allowed to fly them within a certain limit near airports etc, we have to be really careful.
