Skywatch Friday – August Happenings

DSCF0338

The heat is down just a slight bit nowadays so I took a walk around Lafortune Park. I’ve taken around a thousand pictures of the pond with the trees in the background. The water was clear and still and there were some clouds and some decent reflections.

I’ve been launching the drone again from the backyard. This is looking west.

And on another day looking north.

The software on my drone is a bit of a nag and very bossy. Like when our previous president flew into town for his rally the drone wouldn’t even get off the ground. Good thing to as the guy had Air Force One make a slow and low pass over south Tulsa before landing at the airport. I bring it because one recent evening it was pretty dark out but still some color in the sky and the drone wasn’t really in the mood. Said it was too dark so I had to affirm that I was flying at my own risk before it let me send it up. I liked the result.

And on another day it fussed at me again but I still sent it up and got another decent shot.

And this is not my photo. It is a jigsaw puzzle that I put together on my ipad. It took me weeks to complete. About drove me crazy. What I love though is that there is a tipping point in a puzzle where you have enough pieces down that the remaining pieces go very quickly. My next puzzle is going to be of the Mouton Barn at Grand Teton National Park.

Anyway that’s it for this week! I’m linking with Skywatch Friday – come join the fun!

That drone of yours takes some gorgeous photos! I didn’t know that the powers-that-be can keep them from flying at certain times. Fascinating that but makes sense I suppose! Your jigsaw puzzle is great. This is one of my most favorite areas in the States, and am looking forward to your next one, Mouton Barn at Grand Teton National Park, the Grand Tetons being another favorite area of mine.

You really get great shots with the drone. I was shocked by the desert photo until I read it was a puzzle. I bet it was a challenge

It’s still been hot here but my tomatoes are loving the heat. Lovely reflection and clean-looking skies in photo # 1–we have had “poor air quality” warnings lately and smog due to the heat dome over us. Your drone photos are so interesting, as always.
We traveled through Monument Valley on a road trip to Arizona a few years ago and it was as beautiful and amazing as your puzzle depicts it! I’d like to go back someday and take a Native American-led tour, as it is part of their reservation.

Beautiful sky pictures. And I agree about the puzzles. Some of them drive me crazy until you get to that point where it all falls together.

The photos you took with your drone are all gorgeous. We have no rain for about 2 weeks now and it is hot and humid. When the sun is up, we avoid going outdoor unnecessarily.

I’m glad you didn’t listen to the latest nags from the Drone! Wonderful (almost) night skies! For just a second there I thought that you’d made a flying trip to Utah (the puzzle looks like maybe Canyonlands NP or thereabouts ??. Anyway it is a pretty one. I hope I remembered to say thank you for the link to your puzzle app (for Bill).

I think you got some good shots, we keep either meaning to sell ours cos we don’t use it or get it out to use it more, I must remind Mr B.

Alan – I laughed at your description of the drone being bossy. I really need to get back to flying mine – I just learned the basics so far. Beautiful shots! Enjoy your weekend!
