It’s time for Scavenger Hunt Sunday hosted by Ashley Sisk.
Something Colorful
IKEA is an amazing place for color and all sorts of funky stuff. I’ve never bought anything there but I sure love to take my camera. Good thing they don’t charge admission.
Light
This is the plaza where I work. It is pretty well lit with all different light sources including several natural gas lights.
You
Yep that’s me. I have an inexpensive camera that has several interesting special effects built in. My favorite is the “Negative” mode. This is a shadow shot of me, in negative. My regular readers indulge me greatly in this.
In Motion
The same camera I used for the shadow shot doesn’t have a shutter. That’s right, remember that I said that it was inexpensive, so that is one way they saved money on it. The picture button just starts the sensor scanning. So if the object I’m taking a picture of is in motion then the pic will be distorted. This is called the Lartigue effect named after a Frenchman of that name who discovered the effect in the late 19th century.
The Lartigue effect works on a stationary object if you move the camera.
This is a photograph from the same camera, in negative mode, when I made the camera move back and forth while pressing the button. Simple things for simple minds is what I say.
Afternoon
I love late afternoons when the sun is still pretty well up but the light is coming in on an angle. This was taken on the east bank of the Arkansas River looking west.
I have never been in an Ikea store. Looks like a bunch of colorful junk. I like you funky cheap camera.
I too have never been in an Ikea store, although I do own one of their footstools, bought by my son to aid the recovery of recent knee replacement! It’s OK but it was simply a “thing of purpose” and will go to a charity shop in a short while.
My two favourites: your shadow and the lorry that looks as though it’s about to topple over. Clever.
I like your series of shots, Yogi, and I always enjoy seeing the fun you have with your cameras. You are making me wish I played Scavenger Hunt this week.
i have never been to an Ikea before. neat display. ( :
Great images with what appears to be a truly fun camera. I didn’t have time to post an SHS this week.
Love Ikea, but never thought of taking my camera.
I lOVE your inexpensive camera, what is it?
These are all very cool photo effects..I love the movement one of the truck. Have a great Sunday!
Good idea taking your camera to Ikea…lots of color going on there.
Your shadow shots and your in motion shots are very creative.
Another fun Scavenger post and you do find great shots!! AND you do have so much fun that it’s catching!! I’m not a Idea fan, but I did get just the table and chairs I wanted for my dining room there and at a price I could afford, so I’ll cheer them today and it is a colorful place! Have a great day and a great new week!
How do you manage to go to Ikea and not to buy anything? Quite an achievement.
Wow you were spot on this week with the prompts.
Ikea shot – Yep, very colorful. I also find that furniture stores are great places to take photos.
Love the lighting in the building where you work.
Your “You” shot is cool & fun.
Loved those In Motion shots, what a fabulous feature. The building one was my favorite.
Such a lovely afternoon scene, very relaxing.
Love your Ikea shot! I’ve only been to one once. Love what you can do with your “cheap camera”! The motion shot is cool!
I’ve never heard of a camera that has different “effects”… very clever indeed. The IKEA shot is such fun! Some of my friends think IKEA is a bunch of cheap stuff… well, most of it is inexpensive! some of it is made to last! but, the best thing about IKEA is the “looking” — doesn’t appeal to everyone, but I’ve gotten some great deals on picture frames, glassware, and other basics to outfit the girl’s first homes away from home!
this is a great set!! LOVED colorful….i am not a huge fan of ikea, but i like the section you pictured. we need one by the jersey shore!!
thanks for stopping by!!
as always so cleverly done
Fun pictures; you are great with these challenges …
Great choices for the hunt, Yogi. You’re always so creative.
