Cushing, Oklahoma is a major hub for many crude oil pipelines that criss-cross North America. It is also the benchmark price location for crude worldwide. When you hear about “West Texas Intermediate” crude oil prices it is the price posted in Cushing, Oklahoma for that grade of oil.
Oh, it has never occurred to me that that there would be a place where many pipelines crossed. Silly me.
I suppose it’s nice to be famous for something.
That’s a neat shot!
Interesting…I didn’t know that!
Never too old to learn!
Hey, I learned something new today, too!! Thanks for the info and that’s a great shot, too!!
How neat!
A creative sculpture and piece of advertising for a pipeline crossroads!
I would not have guessed Okla for this honour!
interesting and informative.
Very interesting.
Huh! I learned something new today! Now if I can remember it would be another story!
I’m not familiar with the oil business, but since Cushing is a pipeline hub, I wonder if the gas prices there are much cheaper than the rest of the U.S.
i always imagine pipelines are underground.:p this looks like a park for picnics.
Not everyone knows the extent that Cushing is the hub through which much of America’s oil and gas is distributed. At the height of the cold war Cushing was protected by several silos of ICBMs as an important strategic resource. They have since been deactivated but at one time that was a big deal. No doubt you know a lot more about that than I do. It is one of those things that is downplayed to avoid unwanted attention. Kind of like American Airlines underground data center.
If someone had a patent on pipes they’d be richer than a oil tycoon.
