Red, Red, What is Red????
I know last year’s Oklahoma Oil and Gas Trade Expo in Oklahoma City is Red.
The oilfield requires rough and tough stuff. The stuff painted red is the most rugged stuff. I don’t know how that got started but it is true.
Blue is used for electronics and other sensitive items that don’t belong on a drill site.
There was lots of manly red at the oil show.
My employer’s booth didn’t have any red. White and Blue are our colors. There may be “nothing finer than a pipeliner” but we don’t have all the manly stuff that oil and gas producer’s have. If we did, we wouldn’t be pipeliners, we would be producers.
I think this shoot out was a tie, what do you think?
Saint Barry Switzer, former University of Oklahoma football coach was there. Manly stuff and football go together.
This isn’t red, but it is still cool. A natural gas powered motorcycle.
I took these pics in October 2011, so they have had time to marinate. Have you seen any manly red lately?
Red, red everywhere!
Have I seen any “manly Red” anywhere? Well, since my son is called Redvers (shortened to Red) does that count? FYI he was named for his grandfather who, in turn, was named after General Sir Redvers Buller. GSRB evidently made a terrible mistake in the Boer War and father-in-law joked that when he was born he was a mistake – hence his name!! I’m sure totally untrue, but a family story just the same.
those motorcyclist roaring down Broadway late yesterday afternoon had a lot of red on
Do you own a real cowboy hat?
Saint Barry Switzer… lol.
He goes with the red, I guess?
I kinda love the fact that things are color coded. Very organized!
Guess I never thought of red as being “manly” but here it certainly is.
I never thought of red as being manly either. It was my grandmother’s favorite color!
I learn something every day at your blog!! Manly Red, huh?? Great looking motorcycle — even if it isn’t red! Well, you’ve gotten my day off with lots of giggles — just what I needed this Monday morning! Great captures for the day! Hope your week is off to a great start!!!
So that’s what Barry does when they get him out of moth balls. He did coach the Cowboys to a superbowl win, but blew the first opportunity.
A true “bus man’s holiday”.
Are you sure that manly red truck truly belongs on a drill site?
These days, you’ll always find Switzer “DownStream” from the drill site, at the nearest casino.
Interesting shots. Thanks for sharing.
Skittles
That looks like a fun show!
Looks like an interesting show. Happy RT2.
Mine’s here.
Cool display!
Visiting from Ruby Tuesday. Here is my RUBY post, come by when you have a chance. Your comment means a lot!
That is interesting. I like the red items if industry. I am happy also that I know someone else is the operator.
that motorcycle rivals the Harleys roaring past my house every day. it’s kind of cool looking – and I prefer that color to the “manly red”. a whole lot of manly red going on there Yogi. happy week to you.
Red, the colour of POWER! 🙂
I like the red truck, but the rest of that manly equipment does not impress me that much. I do like the blue motorcycle.
Looks like you really enjoyed yourself 🙂
I don’t know anything about oil field equipment, and don’t really care for that matter, but I do know something about OU football and Barry Switzer. I was a Boomer Sooner back when Coach Switzer first came to Norman as an assistant coach. Of course I was long gone by the time he was appointed head coach, but I remember those days well. Go Big Red!
Was the truck white before you marinated it? 🙂 Mr. Switzer still looks the same as when I used to watch college football games on tv years ago.
