We just got back from a week of family vacation at Gulf Shores, Alabama. The locals call it the “Redneck Riviera.” No matter, the water is clear and the sand was very fine and white. The beaches go on forever.
We played in the sand, and took fuzzy photographs.
And we just hung out, and took even more fuzzy photos. That didn’t bother us, I hope it doesn’t bother you.
It’s very relaxing, it wasn’t crowded and our fellow beachgoer’s were very nice. Sometimes we didn’t care for their music, but we could move a 100 feet away and couldn’t hear them.
Basically, we just chilled out. Speaking of chilling. The temperature was typically in the high 80’s and low 90’s or about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than Tulsa. Have you ever heard of anybody going to lower Alabama to cool off in the summer?
We swam, walked, read, relaxed and did a lot of people watching. Something about watching somebody fishing is very relaxing to me.
Looks wonderful! I would have thought Alabama in august would have been miserable, but I guess you were used to hot 🙂
Is it me, or do you not think it’s odd to fish while standing in the ocean? I figure you are just more bait for the sharks you are luring in.
I stay far, far away from the people who fish in the ocean.
Fuzzy or not, it’s great to see you having a restful and fun time with your family. 🙂
So glad to not see a red snuggie there on the beach! 🙂 I’m glad y’all had fun!
I can almost smell the beach scents from here. Just curious, what kind of music was being played?
Yaaaay!!!! Your back!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back to reality.
Glad you had a good time! They call our beaches over here in the Florida panhandle the “Redneck Riviera” too. I think they are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world!
Beauty of a beach shot.
Looks like a great vacation spot.
Looks like it’s worth the drive. Husband refuses to go to Galveston, so maybe I can talk him into Gulf Shores.
i like hte sound of redneck riviera. i haven’t been in that part of the country, maybe someday. looks like a good vacation spot.
When we lived in the south, we used to vacation in Destin, FL. It was beautiful, and I’ve heard Gulf Shores is much the same. Looks like fun, fuzzy photos and all.
Looks like a great place to spend some down time! I love the light in the last shot!!
It all looks marvelous to me! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I didn’t know there is like this in Alabama, and it looks very beautiful!! Thanks for sharing!
Watery Wednesday

We leave for Virginia Beach in 3 weeks…hope we have as much fun as you all did. This series is such a happy one…and the blur just adds personality to the story you are telling us. Loved every bit of it. Genie
Hey, welcome home. We missed you.
@Oklahoma Granny – They were playing kind of a country southern rock kind of sound which is ok but I prefered the sound of the waves, wind, and the kids playing on the beach.
Fun and relaxation combined!
Wet Rides
You had a great time!
Interesting fuzzy captures.
Fuzzy photos are great, arty I think.
Looks like the perfect place to unwind and just lay back and chill, seems you all got the idea rather swiftly…
I never tire of being at the beach…as I never tire of viewing the watery shores in photo shares such as yours.
WATER GARDEN – Fountains Do stop by for a visit if you can find time. Hope your day has been treating you well!!!
Looks like you had a fantastic break at redneck riviera, shame the holidays have to end.
Looks like a good time. We went to CapeCod in June and had to wear sweatshirts
It looks a bit humid but I bet it was a nice change from the weather in Tulsa. I keep watching the weather, that high doesn’t seem to want to move.
