Early morning shadow hiking with a friend.
The day after a rain when the usual trails are closed so I hike on more sustainable surfaces.
And a shadow selfie on the trail.

This is our Pomeranian, Kodi. He is not in a crate, he is next to a screen keeping him out of the room next door. He found a sunny spot on a cold day.
Went on a bike ride on Tulsa’s Arkansas RiverParks Trails. Stopped to rest up here a little and noticed my big shadowy wheel.
A winter hike on Turkey Mountain. There are no leaves left so the sun cast shadows of the trees across the trail.

Tree shadows on a wall and the leafy ground at the University of Oklahoma – Tulsa during a geocache hunt this weekend.
Seen on a hike on Tulsa’s Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area. I used the Hipstamatic app on my phone to take the photo to enhance the texture and emphasize the age of the formation.

Long Shadows on a farm implement converted to mailbox in Idaho I found on a walk years ago.
Through somebody at TikTok I learned a new Japanese word that I love, Komorebi. It refers to light filtering through trees and casting a shadow on the ground. It induces a sense of wonder in those observing it. Google the word, there is a lot to it. So a light went off in my head on this because I’ve always loved sunlight through leaves and I love dappled shadows.
Above is what I mean by dappled shadows.
Dappled Shadows on my backyard fence.
Light filtering through leaves at a local park.
Backing off a little bit from the same tree and you get the filtered light and the dappled shadows.
I love this word, it names a feeling that I have had for a long time. When I go hiking I’ve shot a lot of photos at the end of the day especially of the sun peaking through the leaves or branches. Dappled shadows that I come upon often leaves me amazed. Especially when the wind is blowing and I’m watching shadows moved.
Since I have learned the word, I am seeing Komorebi everywhere I look almost.

Saturday we went to a local shopping center that was having an “Artist on the Square” event with a ton of artists distributing their wares including a family friend. It was hot but there was space was shady so it was tolerable.

I was involved in a Trail Cleanup Project on Saturday focused on this boardwalk wrapping around a pond on Tulsa’s Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area. When we started the shadows were long by noon, the shadows were gone and the temperature was up, a lot.

Leaving the gym the other day I noticed the shadows crawling from the ground up the sides of the building at a corner. Cornershot Shadows?
At Tulsa’s Philbrook Gardens I loved this Moss Phlox and shadows.
And more shadows with these Petunias at the Tulsa Botanic Gardens.
