Recently the worlds best Mother-in-Law, Nana had a birthday. A milestone birthday is what people were saying but myself, all birthdays are milestones. So what do you get somebody who has everything?
Heather arranged to have this put up in Nana’s front yard. I think it is totally cool.
Nana has an issue though that you need to know about. Two examples are in this photo.
Here’s is a closeup.
And this one is on top of the stove. I kind of cut it off.
And I spotted this…
And this is one of her birthday presents. Are you beginning to see a pattern here? Nana needs an intervention on her red trucks!! What do you think? I am thinking we’ll let here keep them. She has earned them!!
Me and Rascal. Rascal adopted us. He just showed up at the house one day years ago. We tried hard for about a half day trying to find his owner. He is the smartest, most affectionate dog we have ever had.
I had my birthday last week. Or I should say birthdays. A birthday is much too important to be just one day. One day only is very harsh, don’t you think? Fortunately, my family plays along with the concept. I’m a blessed man for many reasons.
Look at that big ole cake, look at the old man huffing and puffing, look at the young son looking doubtfully. Just so you know, I didn’t get them all blown out with one puff. Overconfidence I guess.
And Heather sang.
Look at the big pile of cards and gifts. Like I said I am a blessed man. I don’t deserve all that do I. My favorite line from Clint Eastwood’s character is “None of us get what we deserve.” That has an entirely different meaning to it.
And I played some happy music on my way to work.
Saturday morning we worked with the rescue kittys at the the Petsmart in Broken Arrow. We do that twice a month or so and it is really fun. The cats are fun. We are all about rescue critters in our house. You can see this one really likes Heather. Everybody really likes Heather, including me. She is awesome.
Friday night she took me out to dinner in the Brady District during the area’s First Friday celebration. I found this beauty in the Philbrook Museum downtown.
I’m sorry I haven’t been around much. It has been my birthday. My birthday is not an event, it is a whole season nowdays. At least to me. I’m getting trouble getting buy in.
Except from my buddy Fiona. She is into my extended multiday birthday plan. But then, she is still celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day.
So I was totally spoiled on Sunday. I kept wondering what are guys going to get me tomorrow?? I’m very spoiled in case you can’t see.
I got a new camera: a Nikon D5300. I’m still learning how to use it. Fortunately it has the auto setting. Us picture takers need the auto button.
Today was my real birthday. It was kind of drizzly but still Heather and I went up to Woodward Park and I took a few pics of the tulips. The auto button is not bad for that.
I also tried the macro setting. I got a little bokeh action going on.
This evening we went for a family stroll on the River Parks and I took along my new camera.
Here is Heather, Logan and Rascal at what we call the bear park on the trails. The flash pops up and fills in nicely. Except Rascal the dog looks kind of blobbish. Not bad for the auto setting though. I’m a blessed man is what I say.
And there is lots and lots of megapixels so I can do long distance shots like this.
Anyways I had a great birthday. Now, 59 more to go!! Hey birthdays are too nice to confine to just one day!!
When is your next birthday coming up? Is one day enough?
