Last week we had some storms blow through northeast Oklahoma. We basically went from drouth to floods in a few hours. After it blew through it looked really bright outside even though it was late evening.
The sky was yellow. It was surreal. We also had mammatus clouds. Wikiepedia says that mammatus clouds are associated with strong storms.
What got me was that not only was the sky strange looking but the dim yellowish light made everything seem strange. These are Sweeties normally beautiful knockout roses.
It was all disconcerting. Eventually everything cleared up.
Oh, well, another day in tornado alley.
Check out Skywatch Friday for more views of the sky from all over the world.
What an amazing color in the sky and on the roses! Disconcerting to say the least! Glad you didn’t get the storms they’ve had in the deep south lately! Terrific captures! Hope your day goes well!

This is crazy! Unique colours and clouds… jackpot!
It looks so eerie! We had some scary weather this morning, in fact I got stuck at my grandson’s school during a tornado warning lockdown. It’s all over now though and the sun is out!
I’ve heard about those midwest storms in the news. The sky looks ominous. Never seen one like that without a major fire nearby.
Amazing–yellow skies with mammatus clouds–very beautiful and spooky. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of you in Tornado Alley.
Cool pics! Do I need to have WM explain the physics of those clouds as associated with severe storms? I’ve heard it, it’s quite interesting (not really).
Sweetie’s roses still look beautiful!
My, those are impressive shots of an impressive storm! Did all go well??
Cool capture of the strange colored sky. I’m glad you were safe, these storms have been horrible lately.
WOW, Yogi!!! I have never, ever, ever seen the sky look like that before. These are fantastic shots! I hope you and your property have not been harmed by the tornadoes!
Awesome pictures but I’m wondering how I missed the yellow sky. Must have napped through it. I love napping during storms! 🙂
amazing colors in the sky! this has been the year of severe weather everywhere.
I think they came here!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
That sky is ominous and quite scarey. Terrible news about the tornado damage caused in some States – big news over here DESPITE the royal wedding!
skies like this are scary and beautiful at the same time.
there have been some wicked storms lately – glad you were not included in the devastation
Those skies are amazing, almost hypnotic. I was thinking about people in Oklahoma the last couple of days, with all the tornadoes we’ve been getting in Virginia. We were under a tornado watch last night but they didn’t land anywhere around here. Such strange weather as shown in those very interesting photos of yours.
My first time to see this sky color. The thing is it brings storm. I heard in the news that the people said the sky turn green when the tornadoes or twister came to their area, scary huh! Great shot!

HI! Those are quite fiery skies! The mammatus clouds are so cool… I saw them last summer after a thunderstorm… they are amazing ~ so different looking!
Happy weekend to you!

Scary clouds!
What amazing colours… astounding shots!
Everyone else has already said it all. This is just an amazing photo set. I have never seen anything like this before.
It’s really a strange sky,
i haven’t seen one like that before.
Nice capture.

Really weird light, Yogi! I’m so glad you are OK. Seems like we are experiencing way more tornado weather than normal, or is that just my imagination because we’ve had a couple touch down in Ontario? (Luckily nothing as bad as what has been happening in the southern U.S.)
Great shots of a weird sky.
Wow, what a dramatic sky!
Get ready — first week of May is usually a doozy!
Being a Kansan, I can identify with the “trials and tribulations” of April and May weather. Those skies are spectacular though!!!! Such a beautiful color–awesome. Mickie 🙂
That is definitely a weird looking light. Glad you didn’t get a tornado.
