Skywatch Friday – Oxley Nature Center

Oxley Jan 2020
The boardwalk was closed after the flooding last summer. Lots of dedicated staff and volunteers repaired it and it is now open.

The other day I had some time all to myself and I was thinking that I would go to the boat show, but it was a very nice day so, heck with the boat show, I am going to Oxley Nature Center. A day out in the woods and marshes beats a day at the boat show anytime.

Do you see the pelicans?

I only had an hour and half before it closed but I have been out there lots of times and knew what I wanted to see so I went on a circumscribed circuit.

Oxley Jan 2020
Here’s the pelicans. Sorry, my big camera’s battery died so all these photos except one are from my cell phone.

The trails were very muddy in places but there are enough trails that one can get around the soggy areas.

Oxley’s visitor center blends into the landscape.

There are lots of woods there, and lots of ponds, lakes and marshes to get around. So I finished my outing in plenty of time, all refreshed and ready to go.

Oklahoma since the demise of the Dallas Cowboys is now College Football territory and people don’t talk much about NFL football. I did find this Kansas City Chiefs fan at a gas station. I think he’d make a great defensive lineman. He’s not very fast but nobody is going to move him off the line.

I am strange guy I guess. I love the Superbowl for the football and hardly notice the ads or the halftime show. I hear that there were lots of nearly naked women in it. I am shocked! shocked I tell you. If you missed it, check out the video with 79 million other shocked people here. After you watch be sure and log on to facebook and express your shock, everybody else is, especially those who have not seen it. Above is the one ad I did notice. Bill Murray in a “Groundhog Day” themed commercial. I loved it.

I hope you are having a great week!! I am linking with Skywatch Friday

Hello, I am glad the Kansas City Chiefs won the superbowl. I heard it was a good game. I did not watch it.
Love the nature center photos, pretty sky reflections. Thanks for hosting Skywatch! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend ahead!

Phenomenal skies in your captures!! Didn’t see the game, but I did see the State of the Union speech, which was phenomenal too:) Thanks for hsoting!

Maybe you should use your cell phone more often – the photos are very moody and stunning. We had a group of people over for the Super Bowl, and everyone was dissatisfied with the half-time show. Bring back the true musicians – enough with the pole dancing already! The groundhog ad and the Doritos ad with Sam Elliott were standouts. So glad the Chiefs won!

Beautiful skies. We did catch the last half of the Super Bowl after we got off the plane in California to continue our RV adventure to Arizona. We are here for college sports, softball and basketball games. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, It is sad when people come to the end of their lives bitter. Life is too short for that. – Margy

Wow what beautiful clouds in this post! Love the one with the swans!
FYI I tried adding my post to Skywatch, but kept getting an error response. I think Mr Linky is sick!

Beautiful clouds and reflections. As for the halftime, I am not at all a fan of pop music, and, I didn’t know that some of the moves that Shakira was making were homages to her heritage. With some knowledge and explanation, I enjoyed the “rerun” a lot more. But, on the flip side, knowing that these ladies are both middle aged makes me admire their dancing. It’s not easy staying that fit at 43 and 50! And that’s what it should have been, a dancing show. But that’s me.

I love that first shot with the boardwalk. That’s a classic Jeep commercial! I missed the halftime show, so I may take you up on your offer and click the link (and be appropriately shocked after watching!).

I LOVED the Jeep ad with Bill Murray. I may have watched the first 10 seconds of the half time show and then just played a game on my IPad until it was over. I was left asking, “Can we just go back to marching bands and drill teams for half time entertainment?” Have a blessed week-end.

agree – “A day out in the woods and marshes beats a day at the boat show anytime.” look at all those nice photos that you brought from your walk.

Saw the Ground Hog movie with Bill Murray. Saw the Chiefs win but missed the intermission because my husband and I were eating lunch at home. I enjoyed the cyber tour of the woods and marshes. Thank you yogi for being our host.

You chose well on your days entertainment (and I like boats, but never better than a day out in nature. The Visitir Center is beautifully sited! Looks organic, like it belongs there.

I finally found the link up rules for Skywatch Friday. Since I do have a link up called Pictorial Tuesday and I linked from my post, you can delete any that I have linked up. I couldn’t find a way to delete them. I have a link up and am never upset if others link up from their link up, but seems others do so I apologize. I had a link up to your Skywatch Friday on my blog’s posts, but have removed it. Thank you. Enjoy rest of your week and Happy Valentine’s Day. πŸ™‚
