Hiking in Tulsa’s Turkey Mountain this time of year. Lots of shadows on the trail with all the trees.
A bicycle crossover over the trail. Hikers are not allowed on the crossovers. After one crosses over the slope is very steep. I like to ride my bicycle but I am strictly a pavement kind of guy. You have to be a very good rider to this structure. If you are by yourself and get injured I don’t know what you will do. This is in one of the most remote areas of the park. Weekends are not so bad but during the week I rarely see anyone here.
And a short ways later we have this bicycle jumpover across the trail. You better know what you are doing here. The crossover at least you can “roll over” the structure. Here there is no roll over.

Nice and shady, but I’ll pass on the bicycle part. I’m strictly a paved walker nowadays.
I used to ride trails like this when younger. Don´t do it no more.

I like the big rocks on the left in the first photo. I have never seen a “bikes overhead” sign! Kind of alarming!

Pleasant shadow shots!. Does a cell phone work out there? I’ve been avoiding walking in remote places by myself if there’s no phone signal.

At first glance, I thought the sign said “Bikes ahead”, then realized it said “Bike overhead”. Yikes!!!
Hiking through Turkey Mountain with all those tree shadows over the trails must be a great trek, though those bike structures look incredibly intense. Navigating that steep crossover or a full-on jumpover definitely requires some serious skill, and being out in the more remote areas of the park makes it even crazier. Sticking to the pavement for bike rides is a smart move when the terrain gets that wild, but checking out the setup on foot gives a cool perspective for Shadow Shot Sunday.
Happy Fourth of July! Like you, I am old enough to remember the bicentennial (200th anniversary). It was first year in America, and the celebration in Philadelphia was amazing!
