Today we “did” the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art here in Kanas City during our Fall Break. Or maybe it did us?
“Hollywood” by Thomas Hart Benton
We were overwhelmed by all the works in the place. Hundreds and hundreds of pieces, or it seemed like to me, in endless rooms. And it was all magnificent, and by gum we were going to see it all. I’m not sure we saw it all but we looked at it all. We were in there for about four hours and were plum exhausted by it all.
I did get a selfie in though, and I got Heather and Logan in it as well.
We earned our refreshments I tell you!
Did you earn your refreshments today? Tell me about it.
If that painting is any indication, it looks like exhausting art. Refreshment earned.
I was lazy today, no refreshment. 🙁
Does completing a knitted hat for my great grandson count? I love galleries but, by the same token, can easily be “over-galleried” if you know what I mean.
I didn’t know Americans used the term “by gum” – I thought it was a Northern term but said colloquially as “eh bah gum” and possibly followed by “thah knows”.
I’ve been in that situation… overwhelmed by art. Nice hat too! hahahaha
Looks like a great place and you definitely earned refreshment! Fun day! Thanks for sharing!!
I liked the painting.
I don’t think I earned mine, but I’m having some anyway!
I know what you mean about tiring out in one location. Mind you, we did a 9-stop studio tour and were OK!
Cheers from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
Looks like a fun visit. Neat images, too.
Yep, earned our refreshments, all right. We left the ship after a ten week tour and are going HOME for vacation. 🙂 Our first meal out was lunch at IHop. 😉 Ten weeks at home, then back to sea for another ten…. Life cycles….
I’m drinking a glass of wine as I read – I didn’t really earn it, but I’m old. Logan has a great smile!
I love museums and cathedrals, but anything over 4 hours and you risk sensory overload.
We went through KC MO side just yesterday, and all we did was eat at Arthur Bryant’s original….unearned refreshment, but yummy.
