In Oklahoma “O” is for Oil Wells!!! LIke this old well up in Osage County in the northeast part of the state.
Or like these new wells being drilled into the Cana Woodford Shale in western Oklahoma.
Do you have oil wells where you live?

Nary a one! Swamps galore… bugs, critters!!!!
I think that first oil well is nearly as old as me. It is a reminder so simpler times on the prarie.
I’ve seen old oil wells like your first photo, and I guess Mississippi can claim some of the wells in the Gulf.
Have a wonderful day!

Oil wells are familiar to me – I worked in Russia for a while doing oilfield accounting in Raduzhny, in west Siberia. It’s interesting to see the rigs up close.
No. We have moose!
btw That’s a lotta sky.
None here in Oregon, but I grew up with them all over West Texas!! I definitely like the views better here!!
I remember my first time driving passed these old oil wells in North Dakota. I had only seen them in movies before. The last time I was in North Dakota I saw plenty of those in your second shot. It’s booming out there. We don’t have any oil wells around us. Great photos!
The old ones have always looked liked dinosaurs to me.
Nice contrast of old an new. No oil but an offshore gas field here although I would have to get my binoculars out to see it.
Recognized the oil wells straight off, though I’ve been to OK only once!

A pity that spoils the landscape. I only have oil in a bottle in my kitchen, lol !
No oil wells here but we do have plenty of oil-guzzling cars to make the owners of those oil wells happy.
