The Tulsa Paranormal Investigation Team checks out the Ghost of Thomas Gilcrease

The Tulsa Paranormal Investigation Team (“TPIT”) has been reading “Tulsa’s Haunted Memories” by Teri French about the various ghosties and such that are haunting areas in the Tulsa area and we have decided to start checking things out. Our first assignment was to check out the Thomas Gilcrease Mansion on the grounds of Tulsa’s Gilcrease Museum.

Here is TPIT’s chief investigator, SuperPizzaBoy. You can tell by his folded arms that he doesn’t believe in ghosts.

Gilcrease House 7

Supposedly Mr. Gilcrease floats, so to speak, between the Museum, his old house, and the gardens. Ms. French reports a high turnover among the guards. I can understand the house is old and looks haunted.

Gilcrease House 1

We couldn’t get inside the house but we checked the gardens pretty well. We didn’t meet him or any other ghost. Lots of windows, we felt we were being watched by somebody.

Gilcrease House 3

We had a little excitement when I saw something in the window looking back at me. Turned out, it was me. How do you like the hip hop style pants? At least I got them pulled up around my waist, unlike most people who wear them.

Gilcrease House 6

We had another brief excitement, but it was just SPB teasing his dad.

TPIT’s official conclusion is that Mr. Gilcrease’s ghost had taken Sunday off.

Do you believe in ghosts?

I’m hooking up with the Real Housewives of Oklahoma Into Your Neck of the Woods this week.

Glad you came up with another way to enjoy the book other than just reading it! I’ve been thinking about at least driving past some of the places mentioned in the book.

@Oklahoma Granny – I loved the book. I’ve already been to a lot of the sites before but will going back again.

I was surprised that apparently has Philbrook has no ghosts nor Harwelden. Plus none of the buildings downtown.

    Maybe for the second edition.

Love the light effect you used on these “ghostly” photos, Yogi – I wasn’t a bit scared (except at the thought of your hip hop pants).

Love your photos and what a fun, “ghostly” day! Have to admit that like Barb, the thought of your hip hop pants was a little scary!! Darn those ghosts for taking off the day you were there!!! Maybe they were afraid of your hip hop pants, too!! Have fun — but then you always do!

Very cool story! They didn’t tell us that on my son’s 3rd grade trip. Now that would have made the trip too interesting. Can’t believe those Ghosts take Sunday as a rest day. Thanks for linking up today! Mrs. H

I, like many others, love a ghost story but am pleased to confess that I’m grateful your ghoulies and ghosts were all figments.
However, on a sartorial note, I see the majority of your readers (being ladies of taste OBVIOUSLY) thought “not a lot” of your pants.

Maybe you should have gone at night Yogi………..maybe then the gruesome ghost might have showed up to spook you :)…………

Ghost chasing sounds like a fun activity to share with SuperPizzaBoy. No, I don’t believe in ghosts…but perhaps I could be convinced. I’d be willing to check out a few ghostly places. Maybe I ought to check out where ghosts are said to haunt in my area. 🙂

I used to love ghosts. Down in Tombstone, AZ you can go down into the back area of a place called the Birdcage theatres which has the original curtain on the stage as a theatre and pojer hall. Up above are “cages” where ..how shall I say this – Ladies of the evening sat and vended their wares. Some guy would show up there and the curtains would be drawn around it and ..etc. etc. etc. The poker tables are ‘supposed’ to have been kept the way they are with games going when they closed it down ages and ages ago. Who knows if that is true or not. But it’s fun to go into and is supposed to be haunted though I’ve been in a few times and have never seen anybody. Getting older, I’m a bit more bothered by the ghost thing than I used to be. I sure know I wouldn’t want to be one! 🙂

WHat??? Mr. Gilcrease is supposed to be a ghost? No way! I kinda don’t believe in them but I’m sure I’m in the minority. If I ever see one, I’ll change my mind.

But I do believe in miracles. Does that count?

I don’t know how I feel about ghosts. I’m kind of thinking ‘no’ but I don’t know.

By the look on his face, I’m pretty sure SPB thinks you all are full of crazy!

Cute post, and a fun adventure with SPB. No, I don’t believe in ghosts, but I think it’d be fascinating if they really existed.
