Heather drove downtown on Friday and we had lunch at The Vault which is a restaurant in a converted Mid-Century Modern bank building. The building features not just a spiral staircase (for staff only) but an exterior with the old  patterned concrete blocks which makes for interesting shadows. The restaurant follows through with mid century modern decor and you can order craft cocktails from the 50’s and 60’s. We of course didn’t have a cocktail but we had a great lunch.
Yes, maravillsos stairs, I also like reflexes!
I love the look of the staircase but I think I might feel dizzy coming down. The shadows are wonderful! I hope the food was as good. 🙂
Dizzyingly beautiful shadows!
Shadows on Snow
Interesting staircase and shadows!
Have a great day!

Great stairway, but I get dizzy just looking at your photo!!! Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!!
Wow…what a fabulous photo!!! Such great detail and design…
They all do it. Rather then attempt the removal of a vault… put the food and tables around it. Voila!
Great repurposing of this old bank! They were always so imposing , so different from now. Beautiful picture . I might be tempted to go there for dinner and have a Manhattan (that was my parents cocktail of choice back in those vintage years you mention.)
Interesting structure, and shadows. I like Sallie’s idea of going for an old fashion cocktail, a grasshopper was one of my parents favorites.
Wow. It’s like dominos falling!
That is one tall spiral staircase! I would not like to be staff at this restaurant if I had to carry trays or drinks up and down this staircase–lol!
i love staircases like this … i have always wanted one in my home … but it has yet to happen. COOOLL! ( :
happy groundhog day!!
