Weekend Critters – Waterfowl

IMG_3605

Earlier this week I went on a hike at Oxley Nature Center. I heard all sorts of birds and got brief views of some of them. The only photo I got is of these waterfowl on one of the ponds on a long shot. I think they are mainly ducks and maybe a couple of geese.

I am still not much of a birder. I am hiking along and I can tell that I am really close and yet I hardly ever see the smaller birds and the cardinals are very skittish and stay in the brush so it is hard to get a photo of them. It is fun that with the Merlin App I can at least identify them. Still I only have about five birds on my life list. Oh well.

Back home here is Kodi the Pomeranian resting.

And Lizzy the cat resting trying to escape from the house cleaners.

On the human little critters. Halloween is just too stressful for Kodi so we go dark. Turn out the porch and driveway lights and the lights in the rooms at the front of the house. So something funny happened. This group of kids showed up and rang the doorbell anyway and misread out “No Soliciting” sign.

That’s a wrap, linking with Saturday’s Critters this week.

Through My Lens – A Visit to Carmichael’s Pumpkin Patch

_DSC0116

Sunday afternoon the family traveled from Tulsa down to the country outside of Bixby to Carmichael’s Pumpkin Patch to pick out the family pumpkins for Fall.

We saw some greedy goats.

And some cute little goats. At what point do they turn into shameless beggars?

_DSC0123

We saw a lonely, humiliated chicken sharing its space with a rabbit and a tiny little pumpkin.

And a pot bellied pig looking a little frazzled trying to take care of her youngins. (Youngin is a word in Oklahoma just in case you are wondering. Other words have disappeared. Nobody knows what a Democrat is here any more. Except for some old timers who don’t really want to talk about it too much.

And we saw  brahma cow. aaaa _DSC0127

And a few llamas.

And some youngins making a little selfie nest in the pumpkins. Aren’t they cute. I wasn’t the only one taking pics of them making a selfie. Look at the lady across the way.

Oh yeah, we did find a couple of pumpkins!!!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Halloween Edition

It is time again for Ashley Sisk’s Scavenger Hunt Sunday where she provides five prompts and then we provide images for those prompts. So without further ado, lets get started!

Dress Up

DSCN1101

This is an archive photo of one of the races I ran in. Lots of runners these days dress up for the races. It just adds to the fun.

Candy

#tulsa_run #reward #snickers

Sorry for the fuzzy shot. I have over 40,000 images and very few of candy. I think that is because I eat the candy before I think about taking pictures of it. One of the races I run, the Tulsa Run 15K used to be sponsored by a Quik Trip and they would provide candy bars to the runners when they finished. Sometimes they would have the candy bar nazi’s who would tell me, just one please! And I’d say okay and take two. They don’t sponsor the race any more, probably because of my greed so this year Heather bought me two Snickers Bars. Cmon Quik Trip, step up to the bar again!!

Fall Colors

I spent an hour in the gardens at the Philbrook Museum of Art on Saturday. It is one of my happy places. Fall color is just beginning to show here in Tulsa.

Trick or Treat

Another fuzzy one from the archive. Heather made Logan a Super PIzza Boy costume one year. He obviously loved it.
