Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Lululemon Lady Edition

Macro

IMG_8039

This isn’t a true macro but the redbuds are blooming and so I’m using this.

Wheels

Truck Tires with Red Rims Lartigue Effect

I have a cheap digital camera that I absolutely love. One of its features is that it has no shutter. When you press the button the sensor gets scanned so what you get is the Lartigue Effect on moving objects caused by the scan. That is why these wheels look cartoonish. A coworker of mine was driving and he passed literally about forty vehicles before I got this take. I love cheap cameras!!

SUNP0031

Here is another example of the Lartigue effect of the same camera. Take a pic while weaving the camera down and you can make buildings shimmy.

Shiny

IMG_7087

The Cox Convention Center here in Tulsa has shiny ceiling decorations.

Weather

IMG_0551

Here in Oklahoma we really start watching the skies starting in April or so.

Favorite Sport

Cowboy's Cheerleaders

I’m a big Dallas Cowboys fan. So here is me with a couple of fellow Cowboys fans. I confess that I have posted this picture before, more than once, and I’ll post it again, probably several times.

14_12A

I also like to run. I’m a pretty slow runner. Well, that is a lie. I would have to speed up quite a bit to be slow. I like the longer races, but not too long, 10K, 15K, and half marathons are my speed. I run with my camera and stop and take pictures. These are the Lululemon ladies who take their signs to various races in Tulsa. I love the smarty alecky tone of the signs.

IMG_0248

Also, it is birthday time for me!!!! Thank you loyal readers. You put up with a lot is what I think. I appreciate all of you!! C’mon over, have some cake. The cheerleaders and the Lululemon Ladies will be here also.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Bad Habit Edition

What IS that?

Untitled

This was a giveaway at a recent trade show. I don’t know have a clue who IPS is or what the PLH group is but I this giveaway looks more like something you would expect to find in a hospital or something. I think that it is supposed to be a collapsible water bottle. Would you drink something from this container? If your answer is yes, I am worried about you. My bottle went straight into the trash. (No I didn’t recycle, shame on me.)

Yum

20101122_14

At Lucky’s here in Tulsa, the burger’s are great but I don’t share the fries with truffle oil. So don’t embarrass yourself by asking if you can have one. Because the answer is no. Get your own, moocher!!

On the Road

DSCN1611

Here the family is in Branson, Missouri last week on Spring Break. We had a great trip.

On the Shelf

Gsrdener's #books #tulsa. #oklahoma

Barnes and Noble is fine thank you but I’ll take a nice used book store run by people who love books like Gardener’s here in Tulsa.

Bad Habit

20100427_23

My previous boss got me hooked on Braum’s chocolate mix with Heath Bars. Yummm. I don’t share this either and yes it does hurt to ask.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Blue Doorway Edition

Doorway

#blue #door #brick #tulsa

On the east side of downtown Tulsa there is a blue doorway. I don’t know who owns it or where it goes but lots of people show up to to take pictures of it or pose people around it. I love it.

Candid

IMG_7810

Saturday night and Logan is performing with other teens at Tulsa’s Clark Theater. Lots of fun and candid shots on show night.

Open

Untitled

Several years ago Tulsa converted their downtown mall back to streets with a traffic circle around a fountain. The fountain has taken dings from various drunk drivers. Lately the latest high tech drunk driver proof fountain, within the circle, at the square opened up. We locals are keeping our fingers crossed that it makes it through Saint Patrick’s Day. I’ll  keep you posted.

Look Up

20091018_50

The Arch in Saint Louis is something to behold.

Stuffed

Fat Tire 1

Because of Oklahoma’s strange liquor laws we can’t get New Belgium Brewery products like Fat Tire beer. So I stuff my shopping cart when I am out of state.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Mini Edition and Birthday Hints

Mini

YogiCam view of Heather Riding her Bike

Mini, Mini, what could be mini? I like mini skirts but I don’t have one single picture of one. Cuz I may be a lech but not so bad as to where I go take pictures of women in mini skirts. So for mini I am going for my Diana Mini film camera. It is a plastic 35 mm camera that I use a lot. Above is a picture of Heather riding a bicycle beside me. And it is March so hopefully bike riding weather will be back!!

Shoes

#his and #hers #boots at the #movies #igersok

This Heather and I at the movies. I post lots of pictures of my boots on Instagram with the tag “#cowboybootsfornoncowboys” You see I grew up out in the sticks of the mountain west with cowboys. I have relatives who are cowboys and I like cowboys but I am not one. I knew that from a very early age that I liked the big city. I like cowboy boots though. I love’em as a matter of fact. My 59 days of birthday is coming up next month and I could use a another pair of boots just in case you are wondering what to get me. Just saying.

Hey by the way if you are on Instagram lets be friends!! I am yogiab if you want to link up.

Mirror Mirror

IMG_0130

I love mirrors and taking pictures of myself and others in mirrors. I know that it is suddenly fashionable to say you don’t like selfies. I have never been fashionable. Above is Heather and I at a restaurant. I always have at least three cameras with me these days. A small point and shoot, my android smart phone, and an ipod touch. No selfies for about three weeks though. In the continuing saga of my skin issues I started a three day regimen of stuff on my forehead that will kill any remaining bad cells. I can tell that my appearance is going to get worse (if that is possible!!!) before it gets better. Buy hey its all good.

Shopping

IMG_6774

Shopping, I hate shopping unless I am doing a Kohl’s run. This is from Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. They have a huge multiblock outdoor type shopping center. Don’t these people look like they are having fun. My favorite is the blonde girl in the black outfit with her arms folded, the strange socks and the black boots. I’m guessing that she is with her parents.  I love the girl’s boots. I would like a pair of black Doc Marten boots (note another Birthday Hint!!). I have a pair of “dress” Doc Martens and I love them. It took a while to break them in and now I wear them a lot.

And yes I have a bad habit of inventing stories about random people. Sitting on a bench in a busy area like an airport or shopping center and making up stories about the people I see is fun for me. Heather doesn’t like it. So I do it here from time to time.

Just Because

#tinyplanet #downtowntulsa #osuhospital from #cyrusaveryplaza

This is a “Tiny Planet” photo of downtown Tulsa taken from the northwest side. Tiny Planet photos are folded around on themselves. If you are smart and have photoshop you can make them. Or you can download an App on your smart phone if you are not so smart and don’t have photoshop. I just love tiny planet photos. I can tell my Instragram friends are tired of them. So I’m inflicting them on you. I don’t feel sorry for you though. You already put with a lot from me. And I appreciate it!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Thunder Up!! Edition

Unusual Crop

IMG_3795

I found these Thunder Up things in a planter a few months ago. Is it the season for basketball. No Seattle whiney babies allowed!! Except for my friend Sylvia who used to live in Seattle.

Details

detail

Tulsa has lots and lots of art deco buildings and art deco is all about details. I found this winged railroad wheel at the old train depot.

the Ground

20090919_59

Way out in western Oklahoma they are too busy drilling Granite Wash gas wells to waste time trying to grow greens for the golf courses. So they use oiled sand.
Blooper (or a shot where things didn’t go as planned)

Picnik collage "Bad Running Gear"

I ran a race a while back. I think it must have been part of the bad style olympics.

Color

IKEA Colors

IKEA has lots of color. I understand that some people actually buy the merchandise they sell. I can’t imagine why.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – From Sea to Shining Symetrical Giggle

See, Sea, or C

IMG_5504

This is from our trip last summer to the Redneck Riviera of Alabama. I have to confess that the pic was taken in a bay not on the open sea. I don’t feel bad though.

Chair

IMG_6792

I found this pair of chairs at Powell Gardens near Kansas City. I just love’em.

Symmetry

R1-02631-012A

Well I have over 37,000 photo and not a one tagged “Symmetry.” So how about a double exposure. This was also up in Powell Gardens. There was a trellis over a trail so I took a photograph and then turned the camera upside down and shot the same shot. So it does have a symmetry about it, I think. You think? Somebody throw me a bone!

Blanket

IMG_6888

Well, again, no blankets, but how about another shot from Powell Gardens. A flower bed in side a bed frame. I thought that was very clever. So, how about letting me call it a blanket? Pleeeeaaaase?

Giggle

IMG_6462

Logan is in a youth improv comedy class. He has been doing it for sometime and loves it. They have performances every now and then to show off their chops and they have a great time on stage.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Friday – Camo Edition

Camouflaged

20100407_12

Geocaching is my hobby. It involves hiding an finding “caches” that are hidden in various places. There are over two million such geocaches worldwide now. Some of them are cleverly hidden. See the mushrooms on the log above. One of them is not real.

20100407_13

Voila, there it is!

Nutty

DSCN1103

I run in a few road races ever year. The past few years some of the bystanders have come up with some nutty and entertaining signs. Yes, I take a camera when I run. As slow as I run it doesn’t slow me down very much.

Old Style

Petroleum Club of Tulsa #bankruptcy #old_school

I’m in the energy industry. Back in the day I would probably be a member of the Petroleum Club and spend my late afternoons drowning down gin and tonics at the Petroleum Club. The energy business is booming and the Tulsa Petroleum Club went into bankruptcy a few years ago. Times have changed!! Too much work to do now. I’d just as soon go home to the family and so would most of my coworkers.

Haphazard

DSCN1096
Lots of people dress up as zombies or such for the road races that I run. I love the craziness of it all.

Monochromatic

SUNP0010

This is Ginger our mostly Dachsund. She is a rescue dog and is not the least bit grateful. We love her anyway. I have a camera that can pics in Sepia. So that is kind of monochromatic isn’t it. Apologies but no retractions all around if I’m wrong. I’m often wrong you see.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Breaking Bad Edition

Looking Up

IMG_0077

I’m cheating today cuz I am using two photographs for the “Looking Up” prompt. You have to look up to see these big cranes used to build high rises.

IMG_0076

You gotta look a little lower to see what they are carrying.

Light

Tulsa Power Station at Night

Lights from the power company power plant maybe?

Favorite Mobile Device

Yogi Cam

Mobile devices? Sure I have two Ipod Touches and an Ipod Nano. I have two Kindle Fires and a regular Kindle, a nice laptop, and a snazzy smart phone. I also have a GPS enabled camera and several GPS receivers and some other devices. My favorite mobile device is my bicycle, especially when Heather is riding with me. What is your favorite mobile device?

Outside

IMG_3051

We found this beauty at Mount Rainier National Park a couple years ago. I live for being outside. I have been under the weather for over a week and it has been cold so I am having severe outside withdrawals.

Inside

Inside

Like I have said I’ve been inside quite a bit. In front of the fire. I’ve been reading a lot, blogging a little, and watching the Olympics. I’ve also started watching the old television program “Breaking Bad.” I am major addicted to it. The violence is very disturbing but the the acting and the story line makes it compelling. And Heather wanted to know what I was going to do with the Chromecast I wanted for Christmas. I love the Olympics but this one at Sotchi is just making me think “Are you kidding me?” I mean the waste and corruption that went on building the facilities and infrastructure and the glossing over a brutal past and present government is just kind of strange. Hey, I love the competition though!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Behind the Lens Beverages

Beverage

IMG_6658

Let me see, Lemon Drop Martini for Heather, Tanqueray and Tonic for me! Got it?

Snuggle

20101001_4

This is Chrissy our big ole Maine Coon. She was the alpha critter in the house. We had to put her to sleep Friday night on an all the sudden basis. I miss her considerably. I wrote hundreds of blog posts with her help, but the other critters are trying already to become the replacement snuggle critter. I’m holding auditions. None of them measure up so far.

Thick

20090127_7

We used to have a restaurant downtown that made the best beef stew, french bread, carrot cake. This was my standard pre blood giving meal.

Behind the Lens

I got you first!

Gotcha! or Gotme! the event photographer at the Oklahoma Oil Show.

Where Were You?

Self Portrait

There I am, what are you looking at?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – On the Water

Ribbon

20090923_44

I cheated here. I didn’t have a single ribbon pic on file that didn’t involve Christmas and right now, I am not into Christmas. So how about a concrete ribbon. Except this one is asphalt. Except the asphalt is over some concrete. Way out in western Oklahoma on Interstate 40.

Writing or Letters

IMG_3058

Another example of my non-refinement. Not a single pic available of writing anything. All our writing is online. So how about these letters made out of driftwood nailed on the side of restaurant out in the middle of nowhere somewhere between Seattle and Mount Rainier.

Notice

IMG_0107

When I see a notice like this. I tend to pay attention. Here in Oklahoma I always assume that snakes could be present any time of the year. I recommend that you do also when you visit.

Silhouette

IMG_6880

On Water

IMG_5665

My wife and son in a canoe at Island Park, Idaho last summer. I bet that pond has a coat of ice on it at least a foot thick.
