It’s the time for State and County Fairs, have you been to one yet this year?
I took my Diana Mini toy film camera to the midway this year. The midway is legalized madness. Lots of people, bright lights, the rides, the games of skill, the fair food. Who can explain it all?
The Diana Mini has a half frame mode where you get two photographs on one frame. It’s kind of fun to see what the pairing are. I like the way the Ferris Wheel turned out. To me the Ferris wheel is the king of the midway. If you don’t have one of those, you don’t have a midway.
I was just walking around shooting from the waist. It’s kind of hit or miss actually. There is a world of difference between raising a camera to your eye and just shooting from the waist. The EMT crew above had somebody on the gurney. I don’t know what the story is.
The carousel and a small roller coaster were right next to each other.
The not very well kept secret of the midway is that the people are the main attraction. Lots of people make fun of “Fair People” and I don’t know why. I mean if you know what a fair person looks like, then you are one also, right?
Hahaha! I believe you really do enjoy the reaction of those who watch you eat that that…er…stuff.
Ohhh – my stomach hurts, Yogi! The man with the tripod was definitely serious about fair pics. I like yours – they tell a story of mayhem and indigestion.

sea urchin isn’t weird to look at .. its got a strangely repugnant (to me) consistency … and i love people watching … thank goodness there’s no charge for that or i would be broke!
What fun! We are people watchers, too. Sometimes the most fun at these events is to sit in one place and watch the world go by. 😉
Haven’t been to a fair in ages, but it was always fun and a great place to be introduced to “new” foods!! What a hoot!! Love your captures for the day!!
The fair in Sacramento has become too commercial and they no longer have the industrial arts from high school kids. That is why we no longer go.
I like that dual frame on your camera.
Fun post!! I think Fair’s allow you to be a kid again for a short period anyway. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River.
I don’t think I have tried sea urchin. I did try sea cucumber once. It reminded me of the stuff used to make football moouth pieces. You chew it and chew it and it never goes away. Great fair pics.
You sound like a bit of a dare devil, Yogi… fried kool aid. Now who would eat that? hehe
I am not so sure about that food. Did they have pizza and hotdogs? I missed our fair this year, thanks for sharing your visit. Have a great day!
Very impressive pictures !
Thank you for this interesting journey. Please have a good Tuesday.

All of the pictures turned out great! I wouldn’t mind trying that donut burger just so I could say I did it. Deep fried Oreo cookies are my favorite fair food.
You’ve captured all the fun of the fair.
Your pics create an atmosphere of happy noises mixed with colours and laughing people. Thanks for sharing your world!
Thursday I will post our Tulsa State Fair adventure with the grand crew. Yep, it’s all about the people and the food. I managed to resist the outrageous food options this year, but we had a great time as always. And yes, a fair is not a fair without a Ferris wheel. Great captures with a fun camera.
Our state fair has come and gone. Nothing speaks of summer better than spending time at the fair although not a place to eat healthy.
Remember Spring Lake in OKC? My roommate throughout college at OU grew up on the grounds of Spring Lake and whenever I see carnival rides that’s what I think of!
