We saw lots of bison during our recent trip to the Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
These animals are big. They didn’t seem much bothered by all the people around but I gave them a wide berth. I have a feeling that if they decided to chase you it could get serious very quickly.
There is something about watching bison that is pretty cool. It is great to see them in the wild.
This trip we didn’t get close to the Tetons except for a brief restroom stop at the park visitor center in Moose. Away from the crowds there is more room and quieter. The park headquarters is right under the flight path for the Jackson airport. A steady stream of corporate jets was quite irritating. It’s like the 1% were piling into the valley for a last stand or something.
Out on Antelope Flats where the bison were things were much more primitive. If you want to call digital cameras with zoom lenses primitive.
I just couldn’t get enough of these guys.
They have such small eyes for such large animals. I guess they see what they need to.
impressionnant !
What terrific captures of the bison!! Such a beautiful place and the mountains are awesome! Enjoy your weekend!!
Magnificent animals. Sandia Pueblo has started keeping them and when you drive on Tramway Blvd from the Tram to I-25 you can see them grazing.
Very interesting shots!
There are a lot of buffalo in the Tallgrass Preserve north of Pawhuska. We like to make a little day trip out of that. They are big woolly brutes for sure. For some reason they don’t look all that big until you get up close. I wouldn’t get out of the car and throw rocks at them.
They are very impressive creatures. I feel the same way about birds of prey, I can watch them for hours.
Great photos!!
These guys are full of personality. I especially like the portrait in the last frame.
Very cool sightings of the bison. They do look a lot bigger than our beefalo. Which I’ve seen run very fast.
I’m wondering why Bill would think of irritating a buffalo by throwing a brick at one? My feeling is I’ll stay quietly on one side of the fence whilst the buffalo grazes, equally quietly, on the other! Mind you, I own up to being a coward.
Lucky you seeing such magnificent animals.
I saw them near Niagara falls, saw a mum delivering a baby. will never forget it.
Yogi, great shots of the bison. They are cool looking critters.
Really wonderful shots of the bison! They are such magnificent creatures!
just magnificent! 🙂
You took some fantastic pictures of these wonderful animals. To be near their presence is an awesome experience.
Great captures. The bison are such magnificent animals.
Oh give me a home….where the buffalo—
well, I’m sure you already know the rest.
Jacksonhole Wyoming is THE BEST place in the whole state. The Grand Tetons are stupendous.
Excellent bison images this week.
Tigers & Elephants…oh my!
I’m glad you got to see some critters. When we were there last October the animals were few and far between due to it being the start of hunting season.
I’m too chicken to get that close to them, but they are incredible animals… It’s so beautiful out there! Love love love the Tetons & Jackson Hole =)
Amazing shots! I love those fuzzy faces.
Big dudes! So impressive!
I think I’ve photographed bison in front of those very same mountains. Good show!
Wow, I have never seen those.
Pomeranian, your comment is always highly appreciated! Have a great weekend.
Great pictures you show.
Wishing you a good Sunday 🙂
wow, thanx for the photos….I know what you mean about seeing a creature in its own element…the first time I saw a humpback whale, I wept…..
Aren’t they beautiful? We have a bison farm near-by. I ought to visit.
Wonderful photos.
Cheers from Cottage Country!
There is something about waterfalls, isn’t there”
Great pictures! I think they are used to people and cars by now. I have to agree that they are cool to look at and you’re lucky see them close up, but in the comfort & safety of your car.
Those are super pics…I love those big guys. A super close up, too. I just became a follower!
