Black Swan

Sweetie and I were able to go see an adult movie lately (I mean a grownups movie!!). We went to see Black Swan.

Sweetie and I had different opinions on Black Swan. I don’t know how many times that she has said, “That movie weirded me out.” I loved it.

It is well done and suspenseful. I give it five stars out of five!!! I’d go see it again. Natalie Portman did a great job.

My quick review of the movie? How about, “Momma’s, don’t let your babies grow up to be ballerinas.”

How about that? Go see it.

Sepia Snow

Sepia Penguin

We had our first snow of the year yesterday. I was hoping that we could have a snowless year. At least it wasn’t too bad. I decided to check on the downtown fowl. The above is our courthouse plaza penguin.

Sepia Turkeys

Above is our library turkeys. The window in the background is where I sit to use the library’s wifi at lunch. When its not taken up by my homeless peeps. Then I sit somewhere else.

Sepia Pigeon

This is my sepia pigeon. Pigeon’s are funny critters. If they think you are going to feed them they come right up and look at you. As soon as you pull a camera out they scatter.

Sepie Downtown

For your reference, here is a key to where I took all the photos. You can tell when its cold outside I don’t mess around.

For more sepia in our wold check out Sepia Scenes.

Ouch!!

A friend of mine at work, Jay, broke his leg badly while getting out of bed one morning and tripping over his dog. (That’s what he says and lets just go with it.)

IMG_4284

To hold it all the bones together he has got the most complicated apparatus I’ve ever seen screwed into his leg. Its a marvel of medical science and engineering. He has two rods screwed into his shin bone and one clear through his heel.

During the holidays I wanted him to put some battery operated Christmas lights on it. He wouldn’t do it.

(I told him that the above photo was the money shot.)

Jay takes all this in stride and doesn’t seem too bothered by the apparatus. He seems bemused by all the attention he is getting in the office. I guarantee you I would be very pitiful and probably not even at work.

Right after the procedure he and his wife flew from Tulsa down to San Antonio to watch his beloved Oklahoma State University Cowboys play in the Alamo Bowl. His dedicated wife pushed him in his wheelchair over a mile from their hotel to the stadium. Is that dedication or what?

You know what the fun thing is going to be? When they take those rods out. His doctor is going to use a cordless electric drill, attached them to the rods, put the device in reverse, and unscrew them. I wonder if Jay will let me come along with my Flip video camera to record that for the world wide web. Stuff like that is why Al Gore invented the internet.

Have you ever had a bad bone break? Tell us about it.

I came across this photo of me crossing the finish line in the Tulsa Run 15K race last October. I’ve had lots of pictures of me running but this is the first where both feet are off the ground at the same time. Generously, they listed the chip time instead of the gun time for the race.

So there.

Thou Shalt Not Covet thy Neighbors Windows

IMG_4282

I have coveted the windows of this building for some time. The building is vacant and if I had a gazillion bucks I would buy it and own these windows.

You could come and visit and we could chat and drink coffee while basking in the bright winter sunlight pouring through my windows.

Are you up for that?

Serendipity, $150 a month plus bills

I’ve been playing with my new old school 35mm plastic camera. It does bleak really well. The above was taken on the Oral Roberts University campus before New Years. The below was shot at the Arkansas River Parks.

I’m really into bleak for some reason.

I also like serendipity. SuperPizzaBoy and I were on an errand last week. We drove past one of the most run down and decrepit houses I’ve ever seen. It had a big hand painted sign that said $150 a month plus bills. I had my plastic camera with me so I stopped and took a picture.

Later that day we went to the airport to pick up my brother. I took some photos waiting for him including one of a custom red car in the parking lot. I posted it earlier this week but here it is again.

I also took a picture of it with my film camera. Of course you have to wait to get the results back from the developer. This was the result.

I forgot to advance the film so I had a double exposure. I love the result.

What is your latest serendipity?
