Skywatch Friday – Early Morning

Mohawk Park in the morning

Last Friday I had the day off and after dropping Logan off at school I drove up to Oxley Nature Center for a hike. Across the road the dew was still on the grass of Mohawk Park Golf Course. A beautiful day was starting with not a cloud in the sky. So I violated all the rules and decided to shoot into the sun. I liked that big ole tree and was too lazy to wade across the canal and get on the other side of it.

Skywatch Friday – Neighborhood Sky – Warts and All

East Side Tree Impressions Monet I 25pct

Last Saturday, Heather and I were walking to a craft show in a not so great neighborhood just east of downtown Tulsa when I spotted this tree with the bright yellow leaves set against the blue sky and in amongst garbage carts, a food truck, and the back of a stop sign. I live in a city folks many of my Skywatch pictures have power lines, billboards, and other distractions. But I take the pics anyway. (Amongst is a word in Oklahoma by the way)

What about you, do you ever just take the pic anyway?

Turkey Mountain Skywatch

Turkey Mountain Skies

Last weekend, son and I went on a little hike on Turkey Mountain just to get outside and get some fresh air and walk around a bit. We didn’t go to far, just a couple miles but the sky was blue, and the air was warm and dry. You have to take advantage of all the good days you can this time of year.

Skywatch Friday – Urban Morning Skies

Urban Skywatch

I was heading to work Tuesday morning and I had to stop and take this pic with my free generic non Apple, non Samsung, smart phone cell phone camera. No filter, just a little cropping. Urban skies are like this, powerlines, light poles, buildings, cars and all that. Somehow, it all works, for me at least.

This week’s Skywatch Friday shot is from my mother’s beloved Idaho. She grew up there and moved for a time and came back when she and my Dad retired. She’s been gone for some time and I think of her every day. Most of what I am today is because of her. DSC00043

She was a natural Forest Ranger’s wife. She loved the mountains and loved her family. She always told Dad that she would live anywhere but she had to be able to see mountains.

We lived in some really out of the way places sometimes in Forest Service houses. I remember when we moved from Coyote, New Mexico to Payson, Arizona and you know what. The houses we lived in were exactly the same!!

She loved her kids, her grandkids, and  her many nieces and nephews, and their kids too!!

Here she is giving Logan a lift.

She had her health issues but she never let them slow her down.
