We’ve been together twenty-two years today. Peace everybody.
As previously reported the Yogi’s made a road trip to Colorado last week to see these two get married.
Meet Brian and Jillian at the rehearsal dinner hosted by Brians’s parents. Brian is a very nice guy. Jillian is our youngest niece. She is very special as she is one of my three most favorite nieces. Here is Mary, Jillian’s next older niece, she is also one of my three favorite nieces. While we are at it lets meet the family! You got time right?
Here is Mary’s son Mr. Beans. He is a very sweet and well loved boy. He and SuperPizzaBoy are good friends.
Here is the eldest daughter and another one of my three favorite nieces, Dana, with her friend Adam who accompanied her from Australia where Dana works.
Dana is a fellow blogger. Check it out, Dana of Oz.
Let’s meet the girl’s parents, what do you say?
My Sister, Ellen, her husband (and world’s best brother-in-law) Irv, and the world’s cutest flower girl (more later). Check out Ellen’s blog. What can I say? We are a blogging family.
We got through the rehearsal dinner unscathed. It was at a nice restaurant in downtown Colorado Springs. I managed to sneak out and score a geocache. Mark one up for Yogi is what I say! I did it for you Jillian!!
So anyways we gathered at the outdoor wedding spot the next day. It had been clouding up and raining every day but Providence provided a beautiful clear day! Ellen and Jillian had planned everything perfectly and rain was not part of the plan. No way!
The Yogi’s were there. You can tell it was a little breezy. Can you believe how I tied my tie. It’s like I’m some sort of Okie or something. I hate them when they are that short. SPB’s looks sharp though. I was so worried about his, that I didn’t even notice mine.
The groom showed up, that is pretty much required. Now a couple of his buddies, lets just say they showed in time.. I have a feeling Brian will always be there for Jillian.
Mr. Beans, the world’s handsomest ring bearer.
The Groomsmen. The invitation said to wear your uniform. My Cub Scout Assistant Den Leader’s uniform had a stain or I’d of worn it.
Irv bringing his daughter Jillian down the aisle.
Exchanging the vows.
I missed the kiss!! Can you believe it. I blew the money shot. Sweetie whacked me a good one. I deserved it.
They are married now.
World’s cutest flower girl and sharpest dressed ring bearer.
The three sisters and Brian. Can you believe the smiles on those girls?
My dad, Gramps was there.
And then off to the reception downtown.
We kept our eyes on these two, talk about trouble when they get to scheming.
Partial Redemption? Maybe?
I can get nothing past that Dana. I love her smile.
Small World, the Official Photographer, Miss C, lives in Oklahoma City, her day job is as fellow Chemical Engineer!! and she works for another natural gas company (CrustyGasGal maybe?). So you know she is brilliant, attractive, hard working, and a great photographer. Right? Watchit – I’m looking at you!
Sweetie, beautiful as always.
Mr Beans and the Flower Girl were cutting a rug.
Sister Ellen and two of her daughters were showing everybody how it is done. Ellen is the queen of planning and organization. The reception was wonderful.
SPB danced with his Mom.
Jillian with Gramps.
Jillian dancing with her Dad.
Brian and Jillian,
May the love of God be above you to overshadow you, beneath you to uphold you, before you to guide you, behind you to protect you, close beside you and within you to make you able for all things, and to reward your faithfulness with the joy and peace which the world cannot give neither can it take away.
The Real Housewives of Oklahoma are asking what we are thankful for.
I’m thankful for my wife Sweetie. She is the greatest wife anybody ever had.
I’m thankful for SuperPizzaBoy. He is quite the boy.
Together they make a great team.
I’m also thankful for my mother-in-law Nana. She is great, just ask SPB.
I’m also thankful for my Dad, Gramps. Its best to keep Gramps and SPB apart. They are always up to something.
I’m thankful for the rest of my family. Here we are in Idaho. On the back row left to right, my sister Ellen (check out her awesome blog!), her husband Irv, Sweetie, and me. Front row is SPB, Mr. Beans, Gramps, and brother Bob. Brother Bob has recently moved to Tulsa from California.
Here is a portion of my extended family in Idaho.
Go check out the Real Housewives and let them know what you are thankful for.
My wife’s family had a little family gathering in western Oklahoma this past weekend. I’ll have more to say about it later but one of the things we celebrated was a young man, Tyler, just graduated from college and is commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He is leaving soon for training and then later deployment. We don’t know where he is going for sure or what he is going to be doing but we are all very proud of him.
Check out Ruby Tuesday!
Who is that across the pond?
Its Irv and his grandson Mr. Beans.

If you find yourself in or near Dubois, Idaho today (6/20) be sure to take in their rodeo parade. It starts at 10:30, sharp.
The Yogi’s are not making it this year but if you are there keep your eyes and ears peeled for the Dubois Marching Band. It is small but mighty. We were there last year for the event. Here is a photograph so you know what to look for.
Anybody look familiar? There is SuperPizzaBoy, co-chairman of the candy tossing committee. Just behind him is the other co-chairman, cousin Mr. Beans. At the back of the truck is Mr. Bean’s “Pappy”, Irv. Who just happens to my favorite BIL Driving, is Gramps, my Dad.
We are not going to be there to help Gramps this year but he is still planning to be the Marching Band again this year. He has been doing it for years. It’s a tradition.
Here is another shot of the Marching Band and support crew.
From left to right, Gramps, Mr. Beans, SuperPizzaBoy, Sweetie, Irv, and my Sister Ellen.
Hey, if you go, talk to Gramps, he is going without a support crew or candy tossers. Stick around for the rodeo later in the day.
We got back from Idaho on Sunday for a family reunion and visit with my Dad. I was planning on do some geocaching but I got sidetracked scanning old family photographs. I can actually say it was more fun than geocaching. (Although I did get a couple of those.)
Many of the photographs I had never seen before, like this one:
Early 1960’s near Payson, Arizona. Me, Brother, Sister, Mom. Dad was the photographer. Isn’t that just so early 1960’s. I love the Coors box. I love brother Bob’s bandanna and hat. Where’s mine?
I also love this one:
This is my Mother in northern Idaho before she was married. Isn’t she the perfect Forest Ranger’s wife? I love the rolled up cuffs and the shoes. She wasn’t posing or anything was she? You think?
Here is Mom and Dad with brother Bob in Missoula, Montana.
I found, what is now my favorite photograph of her of all time in her favorite outfit.
She has that look that she got when she was about to engage in her favorite sport of poking Republicans in the eye, including sometimes her pompous middle child.
Hey, go see your folks if they are still around and raid their photo albums. Its fun. Get the stories.
Just got back from Idaho where we attended a family reunion. We all had a great time getting together and talking about what has been happening since last year. We still don’t all know each other but it gets better every year.
My cousin Merri Ann worked very hard to find a spot and get everything organized. As usual she did a great job. A nice part of this year’s spot was the fishing pond. The kids took advantage of that.
Cousin Mr. Beans caught a fish. The silly thing wouldn’t sit still for a decent photograph. The man with the evil looking grimace is Mr. Bean’s grandfather, Pappy. And no, he didn’t eat the fish raw. They pulled the hook out and released it, like we were supposed to.
SuperPizzaBoy also caught a fish. The fish committed suicide by swallowing the hook and so we bought it. 2-3/8 pounds, pretty good for a trout.
The boys also engaged in other wilderness pursuits. This one requiring batteries.
If you look in the left window you’ll see the photographer. If you look in the right window carefully you can see his sister, Ellen (Mr. Bean’s Grammy) wearing a white jacket. (Check out Ellen’s blog.)
A whole lot of visiting went on. The downloaded image appeared all funky so I converted it to a sepia tone to make it a little more presentable. My photo editing skills are very pitiful I’m sorry to say. Almost all my photos are right out of the camera.
(That is SPB’s fish cooking on the grill.)
This is from the archive. My niece Dana on Galveston Island in the late 1970’s. She, my Sister Ellen, and my Mother paid a visit to me in Houston for a few days.
Dana is one of my three cutest nieces and is all growns up and living in Australia. I can report that young Dana has gone from running from wavelets to jumping out of perfectly functioning airplanes. If we are lucky she might put a post up on her blog. Ellen lives in Colorado with with best BIL Irv. The other two cutest nieces live in Colorado also. Mom is gone but lives on in our hearts.
Check out Watery Wednesday for watery photographs from all over the world.
