Cute Scottish Redhead
We discovered this charmer during our excursion to the Tulsa Zoo last weekend. She was really sweet and friendly. It must have been because it was dinner time.
According to Wikipedia. The breed comes from Scotland. They are very hardy and can survive harsh weather. She was enjoying the sunshine along with us that day.

Right after one of our recent snow storms. We had a sunny day with an ominous cloud off to the southeast. I used my Diana plastic lens film camera shooting into the sun.

The Red Garden by Alice Hoffman
The Red Garden is about the town of Blackwell in the mountains of western Massachusetts, founded in 1750. The town was originally called Bearsville. It sits on the banks of the Eel River so called because of the many eels that live in the river.
The book starts out at the town’s founding up until the present day. If you are believer in the power of place and that places can affect people for good or worse and that family traits can survive hundreds of years then this is the book for you. Ms. Hoffman displays her magical touch that submerges the reader in the story and can make the reader aware of magic in their own life. This book has lots of magic: the mysterious red garden of the title, the eels in the river, the bears in the woods, and the mountains outside of town.
This is a great book I give it five stars out of five. Go get it and read it. I found my copy at the library. My tax dollars at work.

The whole family was doing a happy dance Saturday as the temperatures soared into the 60’s (from being minus 11 a few days before). We visited the Zoo and got spirits our lifted and our groove on.

I took a walk Saturday at a local park with my Diana plastic lens film camera. This tree has always looked animated to me. Today it looked like it had reached almost to the sun.

Weekend Reflections – It is Not an Oil Tank!
Some reflections off our of Tulsa’s newly revamped convention center.
The shiny object to the leftt is the new BOK Arena. It is not an oil tank.
I like how the entrance doors look like individual frames.

Camera Critters – 2011 Record Snow
We set some records for snow in Oklahoma the last few days and it has been pretty darn cold, minus 11F this morning here in Tulsa according to Accuweather. The South Pole was minus 23F. What’s up with that?
So to help out our feathered friends we’ve make extra sure that our bird feeders are well stocked.
Here’s a cardinal collage. I’m overflowing flickr.com with cardinal photos.
We had a pair of doves show up and waddle right into the middle of a feeder that we put on the ground. That didn’t go over well with the other birds.
The only guy that could get the doves to move is the meadowlark. He will park himself in the feeder for literally hours.
We had somebody new show up. It was kind of shy and I haven’t figured out what it is yet. It is a house finch according to a commenter.
This guy showed up also. I think it is a mockingbird?
A couple of bluejays show up from time to time but don’t say long.
Oh, and yes, these guys show up. Sweetie tells me that they are fox squirrels.
They are real hogs. We let them eat for a while then let our dogs out to chase them off. They show back up in a couple of hours. We know they need to eat, they just need to share.
Tonight we had a rabbit in our front yard.
Take my word for it that it is a rabbit. I had to jack up the contrast and increase the exposure.
