Skywatch Friday – Cool Beach Vibes
We are still at the beach on our family’s vacation. We had a couple of warm days to wear we could sit on the beach for a few hours. The water was warm enough wade in but not for me to get in. Son got in for a little bit but he is young, right? And then it got cold so we go beach walking and hiking in a nearby State Park. Hey you know, a cold day at the beach is still okay.

Exiles by Jane Harper
I scored a free, no cost, no obligation, Advance Readers Copy of Exiles by Jane Harper. Ms. Harper is an Australian and the book is set in Australia and it is quite a read. I won’t go through the plot for you but it is about two murders that has everybody in a small town baffled about what happened especially about a missing mother who abandoned her baby during a festival.
That happened a year ago and a big city policeman comes, not to investigate the crime, but to reconnect with his family. He gets home and his curiosity just gets the better of him so he starts asking here and there trying to figure it out.
This is a who dunnit but it is also a relationship book. Lots of conversations and talking and thinking going on. When we get to the reveal about who did it, it is kind of wow, I should have seen that coming but didn’t. This is a totally satisfying book and I give it five stars out of five.
It’s going to be released in the USA in 2023.

Weekly Critter Summary
I took a short hike on Turkey Mountain recently and surprised a couple of deer. They just moved off a short distance, keeping an eye on me. This one particular didn’t seem any in hurry to leave.
On the same hike, I came across an armadillo snuffling around the woods raising dust. It didn’t see me but when it did it ran off a few feet. I’ve seen more armadillos out in the woods this summer than I have seen in a long time.
Lots of livestock at the State Fair this year. I always enjoy looking at them.
Closer to home I came across this cottontail living in our front flower bed. It just sat there looking at me and then hopped back into its cover.
And in the home, LJ the cat catching some warm sun.

Tulsa State Fair Skywatch
I like to go to the Tulsa State Fair every year. I only spend about a couple hours.
All I do basically is take photographs.
As you can tell I like Ferris Wheels.
And I love this two story merry go round. They have had it for years.
Some of the ride parts are amusing, or scary. If I was a kid this would scare me to death. I don’t ride any of the rides. Nope, not a ride person.
At least this guy is smiling. Not for me though.
And I like taking photos of the food stands. I love this faux corner brick pizza place. Nope, not going to touch it.
Not tempted by Chicken City either. I love the design though.

You know, I don’t even know what a funnel cake is. Nor do I want to find out. I generally get a corn dog. Kind of hard to mess that up. I only get one corn dog per year.
I like all the 4H and FFA projects on display. Someone restored this beautiful tractor.
So at the end of my 2.5 mile wibble wobble of the Tulsa State Fair I found the German Beer tent and had me a wheat beer, or two. Later on I got a corn dog.

Shadowy Yarn Bombs in the Garden
At the treehouse at the Tulsa Botanic Garden there are several yarn bombs hidden away in the shadows.
Yarn Bombs are my favorite form of graffiti. It’s not vandalism and can be very colorful.
And if they get a little aged, sagging, or miscolored, a pair of scissors removes them.

Butterflies at the Tulsa Botanic Garden
Saturday, we all three loaded up in the car and ventured to the Tulsa Botanic Garden to check out the butterflies.
It is butterfly mania up there. I wondered where all the monarch butterflies were in Tulsa. They are at the Botanic Garden.
Butterflies make me happy!
They looked pretty happy as well.
There were several humming birds as well. I didn’t bring the right lens to capture them so I have these two highly cropped photos.

Keep Your Eye on the Road and Your Hands Upon the Wheel..
Another week where I don’t have much in the way of Skywatch Photos. Amond other things I have been riding with Logan so he can get his drivers license soon. He’s doing pretty well. We’ve done lots of country roads and today we did some heavily tracked streets and soon we’ll get him on the freeway.
I stole the idea for the blog title from my cousin Patty who commented with the song lyric on facebook. I thought it was ZZ Top who sang the song. Nope, it was the Doors, Roadhouse Blues. I knew that. Or at least I used to know it when I had more brain cells. Anyway, who knew the Doors had solid driving advice?

And I found cool wagon at a mall with a strange name here in Tulsa. It’s the mini-Mall. What!?
And this is Hurricane Ian on September 26 as seen from the International Space Station. I think literally somebody shot the scene through a window with their Nikon D5. I’m thinking about all the victims from the Caribbean, including Cuba, and the Florida. Lots of destruction the past few days.
