Skywatch Friday – Oklahoma Style

2014-05-10 All Star Skywatch #2 HDR

The sky at Logan’s riding stable last Saturday. It was a little breezy outside but hey this is Oklahoma we get nervous if the wind isn’t blowing.

It made me think of the lyrics from “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” from the musical Oklahoma”

All the sounds of the earth are like music
All the sounds of the earth are like music
The breeze is so busy it don’t miss a tree
An’ a ol’ weepin’ willer is laughin’ at me

Oh, what a beautiful Mornin’
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I’ve got a beautiful feelin’
Everything’s goin’ my way.
Oh, what a beautiful day!

Even if you are not in Oklahoma, try to have a great day! 😉

Skywatch Friday – Lobby View

BOK Skywatch HDR

On a nice, cool, breezy, sunny day last week I was walking around downtown taking pics. The bottom level of one of the tallest buildings in Tulsa, the BOK Tower, has some huge arched windows on the ground floor and I took this shot. It has kind of grown on me. I don’t know why, maybe it is the flag or the steeple with the cross on it, the clouds, I don’t know but here it is.

Skywatch Friday – Downtown Dallas

Late afternoon #downtowndallas #reflections #sun #best_skyshots #sky #clouds #sun

I have been in Dallas this week at the Gas Processors Association annual convention. One day late in the afternoon I walked down to Dealy Plaza to check out the place where John Kennedy was assassinated. Walking back the sun popped out and I was in a reflection from the buildings downtown. Does any town have more mirror buildings than Dallas? Anyway, Itook this shot with my Ipod.

Skywatch Friday – Donkeys, Drilling Rigs, and a Big Sky

Donkeys and Drilling Rigs edit

We visited family last weekend in western Oklahoma and went out to their ranch. The ranch had donkeys in addition to the usual cows, grass, drilling rigs, and a big sky. They guard the calves from coyotes and provide comedic relief. Those big ears just kill me. Nolan is the guy to the left and I don’t know who the names of the other two. All three are big beggers. My wife Heather is feeding them treats. They have already figured out that I don’t do that.

Skywatch Friday – Spring Break at Branson, Missouri Edition

DSCN1616

King Kong is on the loose again. This time in Branson, MO.

DSCN1617

For a small town in the sticks Branson sure has a lot of traffic!

DSCN1611

The family is on Spring Break! Lots of stuff happening with us so no staycation for Spring Break. Staycation mostly turns out to be nocation for us so off we went.

DSCN1625

We went to see the Titannic Exhibit. Very, very interesting and you will have to take my word for it since they insist no photos or videos. I’m going to follow those rules. If I was in your house I’d follow your rules!

DSCN1620

Then off to the grocery store. This scene lets you know that we were not in Oklahoma. No I don’t have a drinking problem. I drink just fine!

DSCN1621

Can you believe how cheap televsions have become. All you peeps from the 60’s and 70’s remember the orange faces on television? And how you would talk about somebody “They have a Sony.” Sony was the gold standard and the pricing was high. And now you can get a 32″ television for $150. Wow!

DSCN1619

I love grocery stores. Lots of photo ops there. Remember when Beanie Baby’s were all the rage. Pretty ho hum now, huh?

DSCN1623

And the tabloids! They are wonderful. Anybody out there detoxing their glands? Be sure and not tell me about it.

DSCN1624

You want a tip? I’ll give you a tip. The big attraction in Branson is Silver Dollar City and it costs $64 per person to get in. If you can go on Thursdays, Country Mart Grocery stores in Branson will sell you tickets for $30. Now that is a deal!! Dont’ say that I never saved you any money.

Skywatch Friday – First Run of the Year on Turkey Mountain

Sunset Turkey Mountain

Daylight savings time is here and so I went running on Turkey Mountain after work for the first time since the Fall. I loved it. It was very windy and cold down on the river trails where I had been running but the woods on the mountain cut the wind to nothing. I did a slow and comfortable 3 miles or so and stopped and took lots of pics. As usual once I got a half mile from the parking lot I saw only three or four other people. It was great.

DSCN1561

I saw a couple stringing up hammocks next to what I call “Wagon Wheel Lake” near the old parking lot. I don’t know what is up with that. Camping is a no-no on the mountain. Oh well!
