No Rest on the Seventh Day, but I am not Complaining
Sunday:
Lets see, up at 5:15 am, get dressed, drive down to the Arkansas River. Run six miles with Burt and Jeff from church. Drink coffee at Starbucks until 8.
Drive home, get dressed, we missed church today but Sweetie is teaching 4 year olds and I’m helping her so we all load up and go to church anyway. SuperPizzaBoy goes to his Sunday School with his buddy.
Sweetie and I go to see the 4 year olds. Not enough adult help (2 deep adult leadership for child and adult safety, married couples don’t count!) so we had to combine with another class. Take to big group and then since so many kids they play on the playground.
SPB’s new bed is in at the furniture store. So I drive up there with the truck (sneak in a geocache on the way.) Pick the stuff up, take back to the house.
Turns out that taking down the old ceiling fan and putting in the new one is what soaks up the hours.
Not very much rest today but all in all a day well spent and satisfying.
Happy Birthday SuperPizzaBoy!!
Graduation
As previously reported SuperPizzaBoy and I flew to Colorado to attend and celebrate his cousin Jillian’s graduation from Colorado State University at Fort Collins.
The Ag Department at CSU hosted a breakfast for the graduates and their families. Below, from left to right, is Jillian’s dad, Irvin, sister Marian, and Jillian herself. Both sisters are very pretty. Good thing they took after their mother and not dad. When Marian was younger she and I used to partner up and kick butt and take names in all sorts of games, Scrabble, Monopoly, whatever. Our motto was, “You know what you call a good loser? A loser.” We were very obnoxious. Eventually nobody would play with us. I understand that, I mean, why keep beating your head against the wall?
Jillian’s friend, Megan, and Jillian with “Cam the Ram.” He is a sheep I called him a goat, I thought I was going to get escorted off the campus. They take sheep and goats very seriously at an Ag school I found out.
My brother-in-law Irvin, the master chef at work.
They had games like the sack race below. Also three legged race, spoon race, volleyball. Everybody had a great time.
All good things must come to an end. Sunday, my Dad, Gramps left to go back to Idaho. My sister Ellen, next to him. Fortunately for her, she doesn’t look like me.
SuperPizzaBoy Makes the Local Paper
The paper did a pretty good job. We are very proud of SPB. He has come a long way in the last few years.
Also, his school is having a fundraiser Monday night (May 18) at the Panera Bread on Cherry Street in Tulsa. Some of the kids are going to perform, including SPB himself. The restaurant is going to donate a portion of their gross proceeds, so come have a soup and sandwich.
Dunkin Donuts Coffee, Natural Gas, Baseball, and a Music Recital
A lot has been happening lately not much of it involves being able to exercise but I’ve been eating like a horse. Plus my Health Club has closed their downtown branch facility which is depressing because I love running at noon. The main health club is wonderful but I have to use it in the morning because it is too darned far from downtown to workout if I stay up too late the night before. I’ve been checking out my options.
So, I eat, don’t work out and get fat. Big deal right? Join the crowd. At least I can get up early and drink my Dunkin Donut coffee and read blogs. You can check out this contact form, if you need donut franchise information. I was drinking my coffee, wondering what to eat for breakfast, and clicked on one of my favorite blogs, “Jiggety Jigg,” this morning and it was about Dunkin Donut coffee as a cure for constipation. I about spilled my coffee and decided to put off breakfast for later. Google it, there is whole subculture out there! You learn something every day. I told Sweetie about it now we’re going back to Starbucks. (Just kidding.)Now for the natural gas part of this post. Don’t worry I’m talking about that that comes out of the ground. We had a team building exercise at work. We went to a daytime baseball game, the Tulsa Drillers vs the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, AA teams. We had a great time even though it was cool and overcast.
Below is the world famous geocacher Teresa. She is a lot of fun.
SPB played a keyboard piece. I think it was “When the Saints Come Marching Home.” and sang a funny song about Summer Vacation.
Guess what I did then? I went back to the baseball game! Got there at the top of the 8th and got to see it end. I love minor league baseball, especially daytime baseball. At least once during the spring I’ll grab a customer, eat lunch, go to the park and watch the game with them and drink a malted beverage or two. Almost better than geocaching and no ticks! or snakes!
Thanks Folks
Saturday, the Autism Center of Tulsa held their third Annual 5K and Fun Run. It is their major fund raiser of the year and also an opportunity for the Autism community of Tulsa to get together and have a party. So you have the kids, their parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, and therapists show up. Each kid forms a team. Here is SuperPizzaBoy with his team sign.

I have a great deal for you. It won’t cost you anything, nothing at all. Just by leaving a comment for this post, you can help a great organization with a fund raiser. Just read a little bit further and leave a comment and then you are done.
Here is the deal. The Autism Center of Tulsa is having their annual 5K and Fun Run Saturday morning at Hunter Park here in Tulsa. You can click on the link above to find out more but they provide a ton of resources to help Autistic children and their families cope with the disease. This includes sponsoring seminars and other training, family fun nights. They have a resource center with all sorts of information. They don’t do therapy, they provide information, support, and services.
OK, I’m done, here is my deal. SuperPizzaBoy as well as Sweetie and I are running the Fun Run, and I’m also running the 5K:
Please leave a comment for SuperPizzaBoy encouraging him to complete the Fun Run. No strings attached. Just leave a comment and you are done!
I’m not quite done. We have had some very generous donors who contributed to Logan’s team. If you would like to join them go ahead and click on the widget on the right. If not, just leave a comment. I would appreciate it very much.
One last thing, if you or somebody you know live in Northeast Oklahoma and have a child with autism and need help or information please tell them about the Autism Center of Tulsa. The contact information is on the web site. They can help.
Rejuvenated Rear End
I’m still higher than a kite about my new license plate number 666BOI. I was so excited I decided to the truck repaired. You see about three years ago I got rear ended by a male nurse on the BA Expressway. (I know ha ha ha, har har har, you all are so darn funny, I’ve heard it all….) and my truck got damaged. I settled with his insurance company and got a check to fix it and never did.
In the meantime I got two cracks on the windshield, both of them eventually spread across the width of the glass.
Well, I can’t have the best license plate in the country be attached to a truck with a rear end that needed fixed. (Again, ha ha ha…. enough). So I took it in to get both the bumper and the windshield fixed.
Have you ever seen a rear end that was so smooth and wrinkle free?
Nana is moved in!
My Mother-in-Law Nana is moved into her new house in Tulsa. She is was moving up here anyway and had a contract to buy a house when when she broke her hip and had to have surgery, then rehab here in Tulsa.
Well but she is one tough lady and she worked extremely hard and flew through inpatient rehab, and closed on her house. She and Sweetie spent most of the last week supervising the move from Antlers, OK to Broken Arrow. The movers unloaded it all Friday.
So here is a picture of Nana (on the right) and another tough lady (Sweetie) resting up at the new house.
The Bear
The Old Cookstove from the Homestead in Northwest Oklahoma
SuperPizzaBoy’s Rocky Horse. I remember him small enough to fall of it. Now he trips over it.
Nana had the movers deliver the old piano to our house. It looks like it belongs here.
