Flat Baloney goes on two trips

Meet Flat Baloney alter ego of Baloney of That’s Baloney fame.

She went with the Yogi’s to Branson, Missouri. She was all excited about the trip. She worked hard on a tan and got herself a nice little yellow dress and green shoes just for the trip.

Flat Baloney went fishing and had a good time.

She went geocaching and loved it!!

She played games and drank some malted beverages with us.

Everything was going good and then son SuperPizzaBoy asked her how she met her main squeeze, Hickory Dickory Doc. Well, let me tell you the story she told our 11 year old son!!

Then when we ran out of beer she got even more brazen.

“Open the Big Bottle! Open the Big Bottle!” she kept on saying. No Flat Baloney!! You’ve had enough! Did she listen? What do you think?

Then we caught Flat Baloney with her camera trying to take some inappropriate pictures.

Her alter ego, Baloney, is the king of inappropriate pictures. She has underwear (if they are lucky they were wearing underwear) pictures of all her friends!!

And then we went home to Tulsa. I went on to Austin, TX the next day and Flat Baloney went along because she has never been to Austin. Well we had a complete transformation there, she straightened out her life. We went geocaching on the University of Texas campus and she fell in love with it. She decided to apply, and got accepted instantly because she was smart. Then they made her a Longhorn Cheerleader because she is so vivacious!! She was so happy.

We did a little more geocaching, she was so cute in her little Longhorn cheerleading outfit. We come upon Tom Landry’s grave.

That made her so sad. She loves the Dallas Cowboys so much and she couldn’t bear that their greatest coach was gone. Her supreme ambition in life was to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader while he was the coach.

Oh, she couldn’t get over it. She cried and cried and cried, and then she died. Oops.

So I left the little University of Texas Longhorn Cheerleader with her favorite coach. She is up there in Heaven cheering Tom along.

My World – Road Trip to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri

The family went on a spring break trip to Branson in southwest Missouri to go to the Silver Dollar City theme park. It’s only a few hours from Tulsa but we have never been. I’ve always kind of rolled my eyes at Branson because of the general chessiness of the whole “show” thing and I’m not a fan of amusement parks.

But hey, Sweetie rented us a cabin, we packed up and went and we had a great time, especially SuperPizzaBoy.

Sweetie booked us a great cabin complete with rocking chairs in the front and plumbing and a fireplace inside.

It was furnished very nicely.

The local food was good, especially the stuffed hamburgers at Chester’s.

It was an electronics free weekend so we played Mexican dominoes.

Ate some smores

and relaxed

At Silver Dollar City we did some rides.

(Not actually that one, but I liked the picture.)

We saw some corny skits

We saw Doc Gizmo do his science show

We checked out some shops

We clowned around a little bit

In Branson we saw a light show,

Drove down the strip and saw King Kong attacking the city

Oh, and of course, you will never guess, the whole point of the trip,

We went geocaching!! There were two in the park but they involved taking rides that had long lines. The Yogi’s avoid lines so I found two out on Tablerock Lake.

We saw some deer coming back from the caches.

So the last night we toasted to a good trip

And drove back home to Tulsa

My World – Geocaching on Turkey Mountain

Turkey Mountain Park is an urban wilderness area right on the Arkansas River in Tulsa. It consists of 300 acres of rocks, trees, creeks, ponds, and hills and has a network of trails. It’s a good place to go geocaching, running, hiking, and biking.

The cache we are looking for is named Turkey Mountain Rocks placed by the “The Wolfgang.” The coordinates are N 36° 04.901 W 095° 59.528. I went hunting for it last Friday. I’m going to violate all sorts of geocaching ethics and show you just how to get the cache. I hope The Wolfgang doesn’t get mad. They sound kind of fierce.

Just plug those coordinates into your handy dandy GPS and come on with me. We start down this trail from the parking lot.

Then the trail gets a little rougher

When you get here, just follow the arrow, it’ll lead you right to it.

Any questions? Good, you are doing great!!

After a while, the trail gets a little hard to see. Just keep forging ahead is my motto.

Oh, wow, look, our first solid clue. A map of Oklahoma, in the shape of a rock. Study it closely.

Here’s the deal. The location of the cache is on the map. Yeah, the rest is up to you! Don’t you like a challenge?

Feeling a little discouraged? Well, good guy that I am, I am going to show you a digital route to the cache. I’ll be banned for life from the Tulsa Area Geocachers club. But, I think information needs to be free. Don’t you, really? Caches are hidden to be found. That’s right. So take a peek.

Yep, there it is. The world is your oyster, name and claim it, grab that cache. Keep on going, you are getting close.

Isn’t that a great view of the river? You are on the right track.

Oh, you are practically there. You should be able to see it by now.

What? you can’t?. OK, I’ll give you a visual clue. I’m laying this cache bare for the world to see. All you have to do is walk around until the sky looks like this.

Study, the twig and leaf pattern carefully. When you see something identical over your head reach down to your feet and grab that cache! Its yours now. Sign the log, hide carefully and head home for a cold one.

Tulsa Home and Garden Show and Happy Birthday Sis!!

Photographs from the Show, some correlate to the Home and Garden Bingo Game I’ve been playing.

There was some beer drinking going on, not a whole lot. Now I really like my malted beverages but this stuff looked, flat and warm. It looked to me like a bunch of people carrying their urine samples around. Not very appetizing.

I looked all over for a beauty queen. They used to be at the show. Perched on stools talking to people and handing out autographed stills. Not this year. I found me a cheerleader instead. She is very attractive; I bet she used to be a beauty queen.

Found me a Man Cave. Sweetie keeps saying she is going to fix one up for me. Well, I like hanging with her.

Lots of cooking demonstrations going on. Very expensive stuff.

The Master Gardeners had their bugs out. Gross!!! What if those things got loose. We could have a District 9 situation on our hands.

Lots and lots of manly mowing machines. Sweetie wouldn’t let me buy one. I thought I’d look good on one. Don’t you agree?

High dollar mops. Very expensive and very colorful also.

The one shot I couldn’t get was somebody in a hot tub. I mean how better else to demonstrate your product other than getting in one? Sweetie and I walked around at the end of my shift and I finally found somebody in a hot tub!

BINGO!! I win.

My last shift is today from 3 pm to 6 pm. Come by the Autism Center of Tulsa booth on “Yale Avenue” and say hello. I’ve already met two bloggers I have never met in person before. Driller of Driller’s Place came by and said hello as did Trail Zombie of ...miles to go before I sleep. It’s always great to meet bloggers that I’ve only known online.

And today is very special. It’s my Sister Ellen’s Birthday today! Happy Birthday Ellen!!!

Home and Garden Show Bingo Day 3

Day 3 – making a little progress. I scored a bingo today but it doesn’t really count because I didn’t get a picture of the seeing eye dog or cleavage. Also I didn’t see a beauty queen but I took a picture of cheerleader. She was cute enough to be a beauty queen.

Biggest surprise so far. No snowcones and no crying kids, nor plumber butts. No arguments either. What’s up with all that?

One more day to go. Then I’ll show photographs.

Home and Garden Bingo Update and a Shout Out for Junior Achievement

I spent some time at the Home and Garden Show today working booth duty at a volunteer organization.

I managed to play some Home and Garden Bingo. Here is an update.

Print out a form from my post yesterday and come out and play. I’m going to post photographs later. But I have to add show this one.

These young women were very nice and personable. They are seniors at Union High School and are members of a Junior Achievement Company along with several other students. They have formed a business that makes and sells the bows in front of them. In May they will liquidate the company and donate 80% of the proceeds to an non-profit company and 20% go to the stockholders who put up the money to get them started.

I am ashamed to admit that their names escape me but the woman on the left is going to major in Chemical Engineering (what a smart young person and with good manners, she actually acted interested when I told her that I was a chemical engineer). The other young lady has plans to be a Physicians Assistant (she is also smart as a whip). I’m telling you, those that fear for our country’s future have not met these young people. I was really sucking up to the one on the left. I figure I’ll working for her in about six to eight years.
