Last week the Yogi’s went to see our AA Tulsa Drillers play Midland at Driller’s Stadium at the County Fairgrounds. I love Driller’s Stadium but this is its last year. They are moving into a fancy new field in downtown Tulsa next year. I’m sure I’ll like it also, but I’m going to miss Driller’s Stadium
Sweetie and SuperPizzaBoy hate baseball but it was Fireworks Night and SPB loves the treats. So they indulge me on Fireworks nights. As you can tell they come well prepared. Sweetie brought her crackberry and son brought a Harry Potter book.
Sweetie trys to act interested, she asks every now and then if anybody has scored a touchdown or not. She does that even though I score the games and give her a running commentary about what the guy batting did last time he was up or what he did last time we are at the game. I think the whole scoring thing kind of embarrasses her. It is kind of nerdy but I find it fun. I have score books from when I lived in Houston back in the 80’s and had season tickets to the Astros and later when I lived in Dallas and went to Ranger’s games.
One think about the stadium I love is that with the everpresent Oklahoma south wind the outfield flag always looks wonderful, especially against a pretty eastern sky at sunset.
“Finally” said Sweetie and SPB, “the game is over!” time for some fireworks.

Sweetie and I saw a screening of the movie “Adam” earlier this week. Adam is a story about a young electronics engineer, Adam, played very well by Hugh Dancy, and his difficult romance with his new neighbor, Beth (Rose Byrne). Adam, it turns out has a form of autism called Asperger’s Syndrome which makes relationships, especially romantic relationships, very difficult for him. The story of Adam is very interesting especially to Sweetie and I who are parents of a child with Asperger’s Syndrome.
The movie is more than a story about Asperger’s Syndrome though. I found Beth to be the far more interesting character. Beth inhabits a space between two men. Adam, who cannot tell a lie, and her father, Marty Buchwald (played very well by Peter Gallagher) who cannot tell anything but lies. The tension between the two extremes is what makes the movie interesting. Ms. Byrne does a great job.
Amy Irving plays an interesting role as Beth’s mother, Rebecca Buchwald. She regards her husband with very clear eyes, and loves him anyway.
The movie has a few awkward moments, like when they have to educate the audience about what Asperger’s Syndrome is, (it comes across like a political commercial, “Gee Bessie, I can’t believe that Senator Jones is going to take our guns away from us!”) but overall the movie is done very well and sensitively. The movie doesn’t go for the big Hollywood ending, but it does end on a high note.
I give this movie 3 stars out of 4. I could see it again.

Just got back from Kansas. I attended the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association Meeting in Wichita. My employer had a booth, I talked to customers, competitors, and all sorts of other people. I also attended some really good talks and discussions.
The short story? Natural gas prices are going to stay down, oil prices are going to stay up. What does that mean? The producers are drilling more oil wells, less gas wells. Darn it! I’m a gas guy. Oh well.
The political take. They are resigned to Obama’s changed tax laws in regard to oil and gas drilling. What does it mean? Drilling wells will be less profitable, so less drilling will occur, so look out, increased oil imports are going to happen.
What about me? I had a great time. My sister Ellen was in town on business from Colorado. She is a geocacher (“eoripolyard” is her geocaching handle.) So guess what? We went geocaching. We found seven in downtown Wichita including a webcam cache. Sweetie helped us with that by remotely operating a webcam in Wichita, Kansas from Tulsa, Oklahoma. (You want to do that?, stay tuned to the end of this broadcast!)
So, who cares about our energy concerns. The big news is that I found 19 caches over three days of my trip, Woo hoo!! Lets have a party! I’m up to 829 total caches found. Below is a partial screenshot of my logs.
Thank you my fellow American taxpayers. Your spending billions of dollars on supersecret GPS satellite technology not only helps keeps our troops, sailors, and airmen safe, it allows me to find Tupperware containers in our city parks and highway rest stops!!! Isn’t this country great or what? Who cares about Obama taking our guns? I don’t want him scrambling the GPS signals again.

Last week Sweetie and I went to the movies. She wanted to see a romantic comedy, I’m usually game but I wanted to something with some fighting and killing so we went to see District 9, a new science fiction movie.
Sweetie summed it up nicely, “An alien movie where you cheer for the aliens.” I don’t want to give much away, lets just say this is one great move. I loved this, Sweetie hated it. I don’t recommend it for mommy bloggers or their children. Their husbands on the other hand, go for it, kids should stay home.

Pull a gun on me. Nope, I’ve read enough detective novels over the years that I know how to handle that pretty easily.
Global warming? Nope, looking forward to the end of cold winters.
Obama taking Sarah’s babies away? Nope, the Democrats are going to get killed in the mid term elections. Besides, I suspect that she has more weapons than the Alaskan National Guard.
Six Flags, – Well you are getting close.
You want a sure way to scare me half to death and induce an anxiety attack. Pull into a drive through and ask me to do the ordering for everybody.
Or worse, make me order at Sonic.
There are two problems.
One, I can only remember one thing at a time. So if some people want cheeseburgers, others hot dogs, and others chicken nuggets. I’m lost. Further if this person wants it plain, the other no ketchup, and on and on. There is no way. Forget the drinks!
Second, the person on the speaker cannot understand me, and I cannot understand them. Try as as I might, I try to talk louder, slower, whatever they cannot make me out. Then when they recite the order back, I have no idea what they are saying. I can hear them find. I just cannot make out words of what they are saying. AAAAAAH. Help.
One of these days I want to pull this stunt.

Tulsa has a new dog park “Biscuit Acres” in Hunter Park on 91st street between Yale and Sheridan. It is the place to be now in South Tulsa. It is so popular that the parking lot is almost full in evenings. If you wish to know When Should I Start Training My Dog? here are some answers from experts.
They have two areas. One area for large dogs (over 30 pounds) and another area for small dogs.Therefore, everyone should try this accordingly. The park is staffed by volunteers and the rules are few (no children under 12, whick is a bummer, clean up your dogs messes, and no food or squeaky toys- we don’t want a squeaky toy riot do we?) The park is clean and well kept. The volunteer there told us that the grass is in great shape despite no irrigation because the fireman from the nearby station show up every morning with their tank truck and water the entire area. Thumbs up for our firemen!
If you like dogs the park will bring a smile to your face. They run free and socialize freely and have a great time. When you show up, you and your pets get checked out by the other dogs.
Our mutts, Ginger and Abby, have been only twice. They are interested but stick very close to Sweetie’s apron strings.
Eventually they got enough courage to go explore a little. Abby is on the left, Ginger on the right.
Abby found a cute 3 month old Shih Tzu male, Parker, to paly with.
