Cardinal Rules

Son and I refurbished and refilled an existing bird feeder and added a couple more. We haven’t had much so far besides a starlings and sparrows. The other day we a bunch of cardinals showed up. We had so many we had to step in and organize things a little to make sure that everybody got fed.

Of course the Ladies go first

and then the Guys

For those that could behave themselves we had a coed seating

We are having fun with our feeders so far.

Of course, there are the party crashers. They were attacking from all sides.

Trail Ride

On our trip to Idaho we took a two hour trail ride

SuperPizzaBoy about to mount his horse under supervision of Gramps, his grandfather.

Sweetie, always has a smile.

My cousin Merri Ann is all set to go.

We crossed a little stream.

My sister, Ellen, brother Bob, and cousin Karol.

I liked this picture mainly because of the horses ears.

It was a cool misty afternoon and we all had a pretty good time.

Savannah Cats

I was at an oil and gas convention in Dallas last weekend. I don’t usually go by the booths, they are mostly software and service companies and I have a lifetimes supply of trinkets. We passed by one booth though. They have a product named “Navigator” and a “Savannah Cat” named Navigator also.

Navigator was one cool cat, he was also huge.

I found out on Wikipedia that Savannah Cats are a recent hybrid of the African Serval cat and a housecat. They are getting very popular. Maybe so, but I had never seen nor heard of them.

I guess I’ll have to check the convention booths more often. See what else I can see!

Fragile Truce

Sweetie called me over to one of our dog crates the other day. This is what I saw. The peace lasted for about a second before we let them out.

From left to right is Chrissy (aka “Big’un”), Ginger, Abby, and LJ the kitten.

Stuck Gator Gets Free

An oil and gas company customer sent the following pictures to us in a power point presentation. I pulled the pictures of the power point. I didn’t take the pictures myself so I’m not posting in a meme.

At a gas compressor installation in south Texas an alligator got himself stuck in the compressor skid and struggled to exhaustion before they found him in the morning.

They removed the 2″ pipe that was pinning the gator and then got out of the way. A Game Warden showed up to help ensure the safety of the critter.
Then the gator got mad and tried to get even.

He finally got himself out of the skid and just layed there for a bit recovering.

They measured it at 8′ 7″. The wildlife department transported it to a nearby State Park. So it was happy ending.

Easter Weekend Happenings

Whirlwind Easter Weekend. Saturday SuperPizzaBoy and I were by ourselves most of the day. I had taxes to do but the weather was too nice, plus I had a brand spanking new Garmin Nuvi 500 crossover GPSr that needed a workout, so we went Geocaching! Found two, one in east Tulsa took an hour to hike to and then find. SPB got a little tired of that one.

First two ticks of the season. One for him, and one for me. So we are tied!!!!

Then Sweetie and Nana made it up from Antlers with Nana’s two kittys. Meet Gypsy (calico) and Piwacket (“Wackycat”). They are spending their time getting acclimated to Nana’s new house in Broken Arrow. Gypsy was nervous and moved into Piwacket’s crate, Wacky wasn’t too happy about that. Move in is later this week! Got to meet one of Nana’s new neighbors also.

Sunday night dinner, Yogi cooked his specialty fried chicken. Hadn’t cooked it in about 15 years. It took me a little to get the hang of it again but everybody said it was pretty good. Sweetie says that I can cook it for Mother’s day. I think I will!!

The drumstick on the left tasted better than it looks.

Then a cut throat game of Farkle. A very fun game with 6 dice that I got as a birthday present. Its fun. But I never win!!! What’s up!!

Oh yeah, and I finished the taxes.

Making Progress

For Christmas, son SuperPizzaBoy got a black and white kitten. He named him “LJ” and declared LJ to be his “Only Son.” So Sweetie and I instantly became grandparents a few years earlier than what we planned. SPB loves LJ, and so does everbody else in the household.

Except Chrissy our 20 pound maine coon who only likes me, and not that much either. She can, and often does, swats LJ off the bed with one swipe of her huge claws.

Lately though, she is letting LJ lay nearby, as long as he stays still. She won’t play with him though, maybe later.

Pancake Run!

One of the ways the Yogi family entertains ourselves is with “pancake runs.” When me make pancakes at the house for the humans we always save the last cake for the dogs. Do we just give it to them? No way! We make them earn it. We make them chase us around the house and beg! They never get a pancake without earning it.

The dogs we have now, Ginger (colored so) and Abby, have a lot to learn about a pancake run, but they are learning. They still think that at some point we are just going to feed them without earning it. Nope, not happening. We need to see a loping trot with the eyes always on the cakes and then they have to jump real high. Ginger and Abby score pretty low in both accounts but they have only been at it about a year. So we haven’t given up hope.
