It is getting to be late September. Pretty soon the weather will break and Tulsa’s long wonderful Fall season will be upon us. You can already tell that things are changing. Although still hot, the sun is a little lower. The mornings are a little cooler. The sky gets a little bluer. There is something subtle about a cottonwood tree that heralds the coming of Fall. I don’t know if is a subtle change in the color of its leaves or just what, maybe my imagination, but I can tell that things are changing.
How can you tell that the seasons are changing?
Great capture for the day and a beautiful tree!! We’re beginning to get a hint of autumn, but it has been a hot summer for the Pacific Northwest!! Hope you have a wonderful week — and more beautiful weather!!
It has been unseasonably warm here north of Toronto so if I didn’t see the occasional red leaf I’d think it was still July. Well, not really, as goldenrod doesn’t bloom in July, does it? I AM looking forward to cooler temperatures, though. Summer is NOT my favourite season. 🙂
I can always tell by the angle of the sunlight. My back yard is also starting to get covered with falling leaves!
Autumn is just around the corner. I’ve seen a couple of maple trees putting on a little early color. My favorite time of year.
Our evening and nights are getting chilly, Yogi. I’m sure at the higher elevations the aspen trees are already beginning to turn golden. We often get our first snowfall in October so autumn goes by quickly here!
The subtle yellowing of the Quaking Aspen, a poplar, tells me fall has come to the Kaibab Plateau. Also running a heater at night.
