Black and White Wednesday – 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 Replica Roadster

1936MercedesBenz540KReplicaRoadsterB&WHDR

Sorry about bring up another car, but here it is as seen at the Leake Car Auction here in Tulsa this past weekend. I thought it beautiful. Look at the sleek swooping lines and all the headlights and horns. It is best to just get out of the way when this bad boy shows up. I don’t know about the value of replicas but the real things regularly go for over $10 million!! You could buy over 600 of the cars I drive ( a Kia Soul)  for that, brand new!! Not some nearly 80 year old heap.

Ruby Tuesday – 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible

1957ChevroletBelairConvertible

Logan and I went to the Leake Car Auction here in Tulsa to look at some cars. I’m kind of drawn to the red ones for some reason. I was also drawn more to the 1950’s and earlier cars than I was to the newer ones. I guess I’ll never grow out of it. If you look really hard at the corner of the chrome bumper you can see me, maybe.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday – Jeans Day Edition

Denim

IMG_3053

Logan is sporting some denim shorts in a picture a couple years old. Sorry, that’s cheating I know, but I cheat a lot.

Light

#light #shadows #stucco #tulsa #oklahoma #igersok going to see the dentist this morning and it is my first of two Saturdays this week

This is my dentist office during an early morning appointment. I love the the shadows and the light.

Watch

Watches

The watch on the right is my everyday watch. I love it. The watch on the left is my running watch. He has a GPS and also links to my heart rate monitor. I can go on a run and then upload all the data and have positive proof how slow I am when I’m actually running and how many walking breaks I take and all that other data. Below is the data from an actual run. You can hit the little triangle inside the green balloon and you’ll get taken to another web site where all sorts of statistics are shown.

Why do I need all that?  I don’t silly, why would anybody NEED any such thing. I want it is the thing.

Perspective

Rain rolling into Orange Beach, Alabama

The beach at Gulf Shores, Alabama – aka the Redneck Riviera – We are headed there again later this month. The perspective drives the attention off to the left.

Fuel

Is the #price of #gasoline high enough for you?

Hey, I’m in the energy business but I thought this sign was funny.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Logan is Back from Falls Creek

IMG_8723

A few minutes after midnight the church buses pulled up at the parking lot bringing the kids home from Falls Creek summer camp.

IMG_8724

Big hustle and bustle as the kids unloaded out of the bus and searched for the family and luggage.

IMG_8725

There he is! All safe and sound with a big smile on his face. He had a good time. Got to know some other kids and was very happy with his experience.

DSCI0308

Of course I checked his camera. It looked like he was having a really really good time.

DSCI0310

And a serious time. Do you detect a note of homesickness here? No, I don’t either. That is okay.

DSCI0238

He has lots of other pics. If he ever gets out of bed I will see if he would like to write a guest post about his time at Falls Creek. Heather is making pancakes right now. If that doesn’t get him out of bed, nothing will.

Blended with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore

It’s the weekend and if you are looking for a romantic comedy this weekend for date night try Blended with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. They play Jim and Lauren, single parents. The movie opens with them on the worst blind date ever. The date ends with each of them vowing to never see each other again but a series of events happens where they end up accidentally on a blended family resort in Africa. And of course the vacation starts out with Jim and his three girls and Lauren and her two boys not liking each other but then the magic of movies starts right?

There is the main romantic thing going and then there all sorts of eddys and swirls with other stories in the background. I am not generally a fan of romantic comedies but I am a huge Drew Barrymore fan. She is great in this movie. I don’t generally like Adam Sandler but he plays an excellent clod. There are lots of things in the movie that are genuinely funny. For a twist Barrymore is the one who goes over the top instead of Sandler.

I give this movie three stars out of four. It is worth seeing. Everybody pretty much keeps there clothes on. It is rated PG13

Skywatch Friday – Celebrating National Running Day with a Bike Ride

20101122_9

Wednesday, June 4 was National Running Day. I really had a hard time getting my boss to buy into the concept that I should have the day off. In fact his comment was that I could leave whenever I wanted just call before I come back. So I decided that I would work on this very important national holiday to help America solve her energy problems.  Anybody else out there having problems with their employers like this?

DSCN2047
Notice all the bugs on my forehead from riding through clouds of them on our ride and the dude trying to photobomb the pic. Also notice that I’m sticking my chin out to cut down the double chins.

Anyway Heather and I celebrated National Running Day by going for a bike ride on the Arkansas River Trails after work and then chilling out listening to music by TL Odell at Elwood’s. A nice little refreshment spot on the river.

Did you celebrate anything this week?

Skywatch Friday

Wednesday – Musing with the Oktomat

Logan has been gone to camp at Falls Creek since Monday. It seems like a long time. We are missing our gentle giant of a son.

Heather got a text from the Youth Director indicating that Logan is having a great time and the YD is really enjoying Logan’s quick sense of humor. Of course that made us feel good. We know better but we had visions of Logan being all alone and miserable in this huge camp of over seven thousand kids including well over a hundred from the group he went with to the camp.

And the sense of humor thing. We know that the Logan we see is different from the Logan his friends see. We get glimpses of the other Logan from time to time and of course we like both sides of him.

Anyways we are looking forward to the whatever Logan steps off the bus at midnight Friday here in Tulsa. We miss the guy.

He took his camera. I hope he is taking some photographs. Maybe I can post a few this weekend.

Falls Creek Church Camp Rules – There is no Purple!

I wasn’t there when the buses rolled away carrying 157 kids including our Logan to Falls Creek from the church parking lot Monday morning. Heather was and snapped this pic.

Before they left the Church Youth Director went over some of the rules and guidelines.

The most important rule starts out: “Boys Are Blue” and …

Girls are Red!! So Listen Up Campers, because…

There is no Purple!!

Everybody Got That?

Is there where I mention that I’ve talked to more than a few people who fondly remember purple at Falls Creek?

The Kid is Going to Falls Creek

Son is going off to Summer Camp on Saturday morning. He is going to Falls Creek, a Baptist Summer Camp in the Arbuckle Mountains of south central Oklahoma.

Anybody up for a walk? Ginger always is. Look at that tail action.

This is a major step up for him. He has been to camp three times but they have all been special needs camps with all sorts of trained help and supports built in. Falls Creek is just a regular summer camp so he is going to have to step up a little bit. We think he is up to it.

(Our little pomeranian is uncontrollable at the start of a walk.)

At the other camps we or Heather have been there to help him get set up with his bunk and get unpacked, bed made, and gear stashed away. This time he is riding a bus from the church parking lot and will have to get himself set up.

(Ginger is old hat at this walking thing. She keeps looking back at me. She likes to be the lead dog.)

He is not usually nervous about stuff but he is nervous about this. So that makes us nervous. Which makes him even more nervous. He is going to be fine though. He will be with a friend of his and people who know him and who will watch over him.

(We are kind of all spread out. The family doesn’t wait while I take pictures of this that and whatever.)

I imagine that he’ll have a great time. At least I hope he does. He will be back in town at midnight Friday so he’ll be tired.

Meanwhile, we took the dogs on a walk tonight. They live for two things, eating and walking with lots of barking. After years of walking them, they still go crazy. We are failures at teaching them to walk or to quit barking.

(Home of our dogs favorite friend. Be patient, he pops his head up toward the end of the video.)

You can hear our three mutts coming for blocks so all the dogs are fully up and barking by the time we show up.

It is so embarrassing. At least it used to be
