Nana also provided the legendary Birthday Angel. Its been a part of Sweetie’s birthdays ever since she was a little girl. It used to embarrass Sweetie. Now she adores it.

Nana also sponsored a tea for Sweetie. Over a score of her dear friends came in her honor. Security was posted to keep low life crusty gas guys bloggers off the premises so I missed it. All reports though were that it was a great success. Sweetie was certainly thrilled.

Tulsa Winterfest ’09 and Christmas Spirit and does Baloney have a Snuggie?

Big Secret in town. Tulsa is having a Winterfest in downtown Tulsa right next to the BOK center. No lie, go check it out here.

I had to go check this out. Its not a rumor, its true! They have a Christmas tree and an ice rink.  It was pretty lonely the day I was there. But I don’t think they counted on much happening during the workday anyway.

Lets go do a little shopping. Sometimes you find find out about your kids when you go shopping. Sometimes you find about your friends also. Sometimes … (you get the picture) For example, son SPB spent some time with his friend Michael. Michael’s mother is my friend Baloney. You remember her right? The Cheater.

Well SPB and I were in his most hated store, Kohls, when we walked by the Snuggie counter. They are like a throw with arms made into them. Well, SuperPizzaBoy picks one up and says:

Baloney, what are exposing my child to??!! I mean besides sentences ending in prepositions?

What do you do to get in the Christmas Spirit? I mean for those who celebrate Christmas.

Hey long term Tulsans. Remember New York Bagel? They made very good fresh bagels and the lines would be out the door. Things were great. But then they went public, expanded too fast, opened too many stores, stopped making them fresh. Quality declined, they cut back on the variety. Well the lines got shorter, but so what? Then Panera bread came to town and that was it!

Well the guys who had New York Bagel have now stated Old School Bagel Cafe. The bagels are back. Hopefully then can stay in business because the bagels are great.

9 Dragons by Michael Connelly

Harry Bosch is back folks. The bull in a china shop Los Angeles Police Department bad boy detective is back in  business. He has a murder to solve. The owner of a liquor store was gunned down. It looks like the work of a Triad. Triads are Chinese organized crime syndicates who specialize in protection schemes. They get violent when the payments are made.

There is a few things that make Harry wonder about it. But Harry is a man of action not thought. He likes to keep things moving. Those that sit and ponder, are wimps. Plus it looks like the Triad is making things personal. Very personal. You don’t mess around with Harry. You especially don’t make it personal. So Harry has to make a whirlwind trip to Hong Kong to straighten out his personal affairs. Those Chinese guys find out that they made a big mistake with Harry.

He comes back and resumes his murder investigation. Oops, uh, Harry made some mistakes. Maybe he should have done a little more thinking.

Doesn’t matter, Harry straightens everything out but his life is changed. He has to take care of his teenage daughter now. Oops, can’t just chase after bad guys any more. You gotta make sure that somebody is picking up the kid. What’s he going to do. We’ll see with next book.

This is a great action detective novel. I give it 2.5 stars out of 4. Good, but not great.
