Skywatch Friday – After the Rain

Earlier this month I was at the Y taking a yoga class. When I went in, the weather was sunny. When I got out, the ground was soaked and the skies were full of clouds that had lots of rain still in them.

We had had torrential rain. I drove home, about four miles and it was dry as a bone.

Full Buck Moon

We had a Full Buck Moon on July 10. Clear skies so I was able to get a halfway decent image of it.

Not my photo and I don’t own the copyright.

I started working Ipad jigsaws puzzles again. I have a very old Ipad and the app wouldn’t work because I needed to upload and install a new Operating System and it wasn’t working. Drove me crazy!! So I was googling like crazy and then I got on Microsoft’s Copilot AI and asked it how do I upgrade and it said just load itunes on your laptop and then plug in your ipad to the laptop and it will upgrade all by it’s lonesome. I did it and it worked!!

This AI deal is a little scary. I asked if it would take one of my photos and make a postcard out of it and it said sure, upload a photo, and tell Copilot what text I want on the card, what style a card and it would be happy to do it. So I haven’t done it yet. Maybe I’ll have one next week.

I hope that you are all okay!! Word is that ICE is supposed to hit Oklahoma hard starting today. So pray for all us Oklahomans.

Western Oklahoma Cowscape

Western Oklahoma Cowscape Adjust

3G Ranch, Washita County, Oklahoma

We were in western Oklahoma last weekend visiting relatives. As part of our visit we went out to check the cattle.  Usually by the time July rolls around the color is washed out of the landscape but this year with all the rain the grass was still green and belly high. I’ve spent a lot of time in western Oklahoma and I love the friendly  open people, the big sky and seas of grass across the rolling landscape.

Bixby Pecan Orchard

Sunday afternoon was just too nice to stay inside and watch football games. Heather went to her exercise class and I took son to visit a friend who lives deep in the woods south of Tulsa. So I had some time to myself and my camera.

Bixby Pecan Orchard Topaz Glow

The scene above is a pecan orchard near the the Tulsa suburb of Bixby. Bixby has pecan orchards, truck farms, grass farms, and the most expensive real estate in Oklahoma.  There is something about a well tended pecan orchard that is very appealing especially on a beautiful warm winter day with a pretty sky.

I used Topaz Labs new “Glow” program to process the image. Somehow it really enhanced the visual entanglement of the branches. The scene reminds of ballet dancers with their arms in the air. Well maybe I’m getting carried away with myself.

I’m on the free 30 day trial at Glow. So I’m trying to decide whether to get it or not.

Skywatch Friday – Sunshine at the River Parks

River Parks Trees Topaz Cave Dweller

It is cold, windy, and miserable right now but just before my run Saturday with a friend, it was warm, sunny, and nice. What a difference one cold front can make!

I’m sure you notice that I’m cheating with the photo. I’m using the Topaz Impressions program which converts photos over to various styles of painting. So this is what the “Cave Art” style looks like. Sorry, SOOC is so nice but I love tinkering.

So do you like tinkering with photos? Or do you like SOOC?
