Shadow Shot Sunday – Sunny Day Shadows

DSCF0401

We are having some mild sunny days lately. That makes for great shadows. Even the snowman has a shadow.

And park benches…

And bridge railings

DSCF0396

And fences…

I thought struck me. Where do shadows go when the sun is not out? They cannot just disappear, right? That would violate some scientific law it seems to me.

Be safe everybody!!

Shadow Shot Sunday – LJ

This is our Tuxedo cat LJ in the shadows. LJ is a mess. He’s sweet but is old and diabetic (I give him insulin injections twice a day). He loves to eat and sleep. We are redoing our house and he loves the old sunny dining room that we have turned into a sitting room.

He even likes the floor as long as the sun is shining on it.

Shadow Shot Sunday – Saint Francis Edition

Our Health Club is part of Saint Francis Hospital here in Tulsa. The hospital has tons and tons of Francis imagery everywhere including going into the gym. I keep wanting to get a photo of him with Dallas Cowboys cap but I don’t want to trample the garden to get to him and my wife works there so I don’t to do any CLMs on her behalf (“Career Limiting Moves”)

Nothing makes better shadows than wrought iron. This example is at Woodward Park.

Oklahoma has lots of cool stories. In my opinion, one of the coolest is of the Five Moons. Five Indian Ballerinas from Oklahoma who achieved international acclaim for their dancing. Read more about them here. Above is Moscelyne Larkin.

So that is my Shadowy doings today. Check out Shadow Shot Sunday 2

Shadow Shot Sunday – Turkey Mountain and Town Shadows

On Turkey Mountain late one afternoon on a beautiful sunny day.

At the Slide Vale at Tulsa’s Gathering Place early one morning.

Downtown Tulsa. The city is letting restaurants use the parking spaces in front of their businesses to make “parklets” for outside seating. Great idea in these pandemic days.

Shadow Shot Sunday – Shelter from the Sun

It’s getting hot here in Oklahoma and so shade is at a premium.

20180628-180239-13

My favorite pedestrian bridge has a quarter mile of shade across the Arkansas River.

20180628-180821-14

And how about a shadow selfie of me riding my bike?

20180628-150241-3

At work we have a fancy ramada that provides partial shade. Partial shade doesn’t cut it when it is really hot. I used the hyperspektiv app to give it a glitchy look. I love glitchy.

Shadow Shot Sunday – Shadows on Philbrook Museum’s Patio

20171206-115514-6

I went to Philbrook Museum of Art earlier this week at lunch. We have a membership there, courtesy of the world’s best MIL so I can pop in when ever I want. Anyway I breezed through the galleries and went outside but didn’t go tour the gardens since I was short of time so I took this photo of the chairs and tables on the patio.

DSCN8948

I ran a half marathon back in November and caught these shadows in the early morning sun.

DSCN8641

My employer rebuilt their plaza area in front of the building and now it is a really nice space. They have a large ramada and a bunch of chairs and tables that make for interesting shadows.

DSCN8545

This is from back in warmer weather. I was running on the Arkansas River trails here in Tulsa and got passed by a couple of bicyclists so I snapped their pic and caught a shadow selfie.

Shadow Shot Sunday – Random Shadows

DSCN8651

Here is son Logan on our way to ONEOK Field to watch baseball. Notice the book in his hand. Smart kid doesn’t care a flip about baseball but he is a good sport especially since we eat barbecue beforehand he gets ice cream during.

DSCN8641

At work they built a new picnic area out in front of the building with a ramada over it. The shadows are supposed to be in the shape of a natural gas flame.  Yeah, well maybe is what I say but my employer keeps the tables cleaned off and it is a nice place in good weather to eat lunch. No smoking, which makes it even better.

DSCN8642

More shadows here on a fence along a local trail.

This is the Tulsa US Bankruptcy Court building. I don’t know what it is, maybe it is the oil moguls but we have always had lots of bankruptcies here in Tulsa. The mottled reflections is from a high rise across the street. Yep, you guessed it, Samson Resources, a local oil company is just now coming out of bankruptcy.

I have taken lots of pictures of this building. I’ve been told by some of my instagram “friends” that when they take photographs that sometimes the guards come out and shoo them off and tell them that it is illegal to take photographs of Federal buildings. Yeah right, like maybe in Russia. Notice how tough I talk? I’d stick my camera in my pocket and move on. But I would be back. I’ve been told by church goers that it is illegal to take photos of a church without a members permission. (I said I had a members permission, they said who?, I said that they didn’t give their name.) I’ve been told by security guards at the OSU Osteopathic Hospital that it was a federal crime to take a photo of a hospital because of HIPAA. Yeah, sure buddy. Lots of security guard stupidity going on in the world out there is what I say.

This is the front of our library in downtown Tulsa.

And a perfect pattern in the gardens of one of our museums.

Shadow Shot Sunday – On the Trail

FSCN7258

It is Autumn and with the lower sun and the less foliage on the trees it seems that there is more shadows to look at than summertime.

FSCN7247

I took these with my Nikon AW110 point and shoot. It has in-camera filters. I use the “Toy Camera” setting sometimes. So I can proudly say that these are SOOC, right? With digital photography especially I do not really know what that means?
