If Santa were Truly Magical he would Assemble and not Just Deliver

I don’t get the whole deal with Santa Claus, do you? I mean the little fat dude and his elves somehow to arrange to deliver all sorts of goods from all sorts of places to kids all over the world in just a matter of hours. He is almost as good as Amazon Prime. My question is why can’t he assemble the stuff he delivers? I mean finish the job. I can tell you with Logan over the years I have spent hours putting together bicycles and action figure sets and scouring the internet looking for tips. Cmon Santa, throw us a bone why don’t you?

I’m using my new sports video camera. it takes stills also. I hadn’t disabled the date function yet.

Santa got Logan a new trampoline this year. It is his third. He loves his Indoor trampolines and just wears them out. So Santa keeps bringing him new ones. Well Santa just delivered this big ass heavy box  that has been in our garage for a few days. And that’s the end of his responsibility. It is up to me to get the thing moved out back and assembled.

2014_1226_114100_001

Sorry about my messy garage. Santa doesn’t clean and organize garages either.

Yeah, well I’m an older Dad and we older Dad’s don’t struggle with the box moving it out back. We take the stuff out of the box and move it out back in several trips. That’s not as manly as taking the whole box back but sure is a lot easier.

Nice thing about winter is that grass turns brown and doesn’t grow.

So there it is. Now if Santa was magical, couldn’t he just give me a shazzam to make it all pop together?

2014_1226_114716_001

The camera has a 170 degree view which gives everything a fisheye effect which works for this kind of shot.

Hey, I got something better than a shazzam, I got Heather back from a shopping trip with Nana. (In case you are wondering Nana financed the trampoline.) Heather immediately regretted not shopping longer as I recruited her into finishing the task.

So with Heather, you just get right to work. No stopping to take pics or anything like that. She is a mom you know. Mom’s don’t put up with Dad’s foolishness too much. Anyway I used my new SJ4000 camera to video Logan and his friend Q jumping and then I handed the camera to Logan to get a view of what the world looks like while you are jumping on the trampoline. It records in HD mode which for nice pics but it takes forever to load them. Sorry about all the fingers and thumbs. I’m still learning.

So, what do you think? Should Santa assemble as well as deliver?

Somebody is having a Birthday!

Hanging Out on Friday

At work I am on a 9/80 schedule which means that I work 80 hours over nine days and get every other Friday off. I live for those every other Fridays.  It’s the day Heather and I get to hang around with each other.

IMG_20141212_091203

So yesterday we dropped the kid off at school, grabbed a quick bite at Einstein’s Bagels and then Heather treated me to a pedicure. I kind of like them especially when they don’t get too rough with the bottoms of my feet. I hate the cheese grater they use.

IMG_20141212_142002

We ran some Christmas errands and had lunch at an Antique Mall and then browsed. I like browsing and taking pics of the merchandise. I never feel led to buy anything  though. I guess that I’m cheap or maybe we have too much stuff already. Most people I know have way too much stuff.

IMG_20141212_140000

I know that the owners of the booths are in it to make money but I think it has to be a passion for many of them. Many of the booths are laid out very well and you can tell that a lot of thought went into the merchandise on sale. I like it when I see passion and what one does for a check aligned. Unless the passion is making money then it often turns ugly.

Later on we took Logan to his play that he is in, Clark Theater’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (or “BCPE” to the old pros). They have two casts and they are doing lots of performances and it ends tomorrow. Last week the Director came to talk to me. Apparently Logan had been doing a little improvisation on his lines and singing and she wanted him to stick to the script. He has been doing Improv for years and this is his first play so we had to convince him that the character he plays, “The Reverand” is not supposed to be funny. He bought into it and from all reports he is back on track with the latest performance.

He is on tonight and tomorrow afternoon when the production ends. It has been quite an experience for him juggling a heavy performance schedule and finals but he is doing fine. He and us are stressed but we’ll get through it.

Anyways we are proud of the kid. He is doing great.

Timeless Sky

Woolaroc Sky Tree - Paint Shop

Over Thanksgiving my brother Bob came up from Corpus Christi and so he, Logan, and I went to Woolaroc for an afternoon. Woolaroc is oilman Frank Phillips old ranch and private museum up in Pioneer Woman country of Osage County. Woolaroc is a throwback to the 1920″s with rock buildings and barns and old craggy trees like the one above. I can’t get enough of it. This old tree is growing up right by the museum.

And…. in a totally non-related matter….

Best Christmas Pageant Ever Poster

Logan auditioned for and got a small part in Clark Theater’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” He, and the rest of the cast and crew have been working hard in rehearsals and their debut is Thursday. We are very excited for him. There is a bunch of family coming to see the production on Saturday and Heather and I will be seeing lots of the play in the coming week and a half. The production is almost all sold out. We are very glad to see this. The city almost succeeded in shutting the theater down but we got one more year and then we’ll see next year.

Water World Wednesday – At the Beach

PICT0672

We were on vacation last week on the Alabama coast. The coast means beach and the beach means water, lots of water. I had some waterproof recyclable cameras and I took them out in the water. They are not as good as digital cameras but they took a good soaking and kept on going. And to be truthful I like the timeless look that some of them like the above have.

PICT0675

I could fearlessly hold the cameras just a few inches off the water. I have a “waterproof” camera also but I would never risk it. Sorry, I’m an engineer and I don’t care how good the seals and gaskets are, they will fail at some point.

45570022

I beg your pardon for the selfie. And no, I wasn’t drunk.  After getting a gouge taken out of my forehead this year I’m in a high spf mode these days, note the big hat and the technical shirt which worked great in the water. I didn’t feel weighed down or uncomfortable at all.

45570019

Well, this is more like it. Heather and I really like the beach.

45570013

Another pic of son, He is a great swimmer and is like a fish. We’ve been taking him to the beach for years.
