“S” is for Ships

I saw a bunch of ships during my trip to New Orleans in April.

I saw a paddlewheeler.

And a ferry that I swear could be wider than it is long.

A pair of tugboats. It looked to me like they were pushing against the far shore. Perhaps they were trying to make the Mississippi wider? I don’t know, I’m a landlubber Okie. You tell me what they are doing.

A crewboat of some kind. Did I ever tell you about riding one of these (or something similar) on a long ride to an offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Six hour boat ride, or a one hour helicopter ride. And that is why I live in Oklahoma now!

His and Her freighters of some sort. Weren’t they in the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog?

I saw three ocean going cruise ships. Going the wrong way. Or at least I thought.

I saw some sleek no nonsense warships from several different nations.

What I liked best were the sailing ships from several nations in town to celebrate “Navy Week.”

Yep, sailing ships are the best. No thanks I’ll stay on the bank taking pics if you please.

ABC Wednesday – Lightning McQueen

The letter this week is “Q” and so I am featuring Lightning McQueen from the movie “Cars.”

This was taken from the Rock Cafe in Stroud, Oklahoma right on Highway 66. The boy on the right is son SuperPizzaBoy. I took the pic during a Road Trip last September.

The owner of the cafe is Dawn Welch and she was the inspiration for the character Sally Carrera in the movie.

We went on vacation to Legoland in California a couple years ago. We loved it.

ABC Wednesday – “H” is for …..

Hippotherapy!!

Our son, SuperPizzaBoy, participates in Hippotherapy at Rogers State University’s Bit by Bit Therapeutic Riding Program.

Under a carefully controlled and safe environment SPB and his fellow students go through a series of exercises while on horseback. SPB loves it.

Of course, you more knowledgeable readers spotted that SPB is actually riding a mule. Meet Jed, SPB’s mule. The program requires many volunteers to be lead the animal and be outriders for the participants. Other volunteers help take care of the animals and keep their stalls clean. We are appreciative for all these volunteers. The program wouldn’t be possible without them.

ABC Wednesday – “G” is for Geocaching!!

Those that know me know that G to me is for geocaching.http://www.geocaching.com/

I love hiding containers hidden in the woods.

And seeing what they contain!

They come in all shapes and sizes.

Some even have hair.

Some are pretty fancy.

Geocaching has taken to places with breathtaking sights.

And down long abandoned stretches of Route 66.

I’ve even climbed a few trees.

And has taken me to lighthouses in the middle of Oklahoma’s tallgrass prairies.

I get to play with gadgets that read satellite signals.

It’s great fun for families

and coworkers.

and sharing with people of all ages who have never done it before.

Yep, G is for Geocaching for me.

Alphabet Wednesday – “F” is Food!!!!!!!!!!

This week’s letter is F! I love F because to me F means FOOOOOOD!!! I love Food. I love it so much I make a point to eat some every day.

Sweeties version of the Pioneer Woman’s Apple Pie. It went for $165 at a desert auction at SuperPizzaBoy’ school. That was a bargain. I think its time for an Apple Pie throw down between Sweetie and the Ree. My money is on Sweetie.

Sweetie and I went to eat Pho last week. Is was so Philicious, yeph I phay pho. Right Phaloney?

SuperPizzaBoy also likes ice cream.

My favorite from Impression’s the defunct downtown Tulsa restaurant. See that carrot cake. That is my reward to myself for donating blood.

From Lucky’s here in Tulsa. Those french fries have truffle oil on them. Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t remember where this is from. I love sushi. Here in Oklahoma we call it fish bait. The great thing about sushi in Oklahoma is that you don’t have to worry about people stealing your food off the plate. I ate sea urchin sushi once with a customer. Almost lost the customer. It was almost worth it though.

You know what the biggest lie in the world is? Do you really? I’ll tell you what it is: “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” Sorry, I don’t believe that for a second.

So I’m saying D is for Dogs!

Those are good Dogs, but not what I really meant.

ABC Wednesday – “B”

It’s almost the end of January, April is around the corner and I am already looking forward to Baseball.

I love it whether in beautiful downtown San Diego or here in AA Tulsa.

We’re serious fans,

We sing Take Me Out to the Ball Game, with gusto.

We say hello to the mascots.

We check out the camera ladies fingernail polish and wonder what the duct tape is for.

We watch the fireworks.

And sometimes even watch the game.

It has been a while since I’ve done ABC Wednesday. I had a powerful hankering to participate this week. Turns out the letter this week is “U.” U is tough, I looked long and hard for U. This is all I got for U.

How about a Union flag. This one was carried by an IBEW member for fifteen kilometers.

“O” is for Ollies Station Restaurant

Last weekend, SuperPizzaBoy and I ate at Ollies Station Restaurant in west Tulsa.

It is on Route 66 in west Tulsa, on the wrong side of the Arkansas River. The east side of Tulsa is museums, concert halls, and big old huge houses from the roaring 20’s. The west side is refineries, railroad yards, oilfield fabrication shops. That is where the money was made to build the nice stuff on the other side of the river.
